You are correct sir. Also, Dwight has the recruiter inside track.

Looking at Smith's shooting charts from this year, it seems that he is shooting a decent percentage from the corners. I know that the sample size is too low for this season, but has he generally shot a good percentage from the corners? It would be interesting to see him spot up there while Harden and Howard run a pick and roll at the top of the key. I am hoping Morey and Co. can get him to understand that he shouldn't be shooting the long 2s.

I'm surprised Cavaliers aren't in the mix considering they need a big with some athleticism and able to block shots

Ah ok now I understand. I was under the impression that the team that picks him up off waivers wouldn't have to pay the contract.

Take out Brew and put in Harden. Similar defense, amazing offense.

I don't mind smith now that Jones is like deadios

But he's basically not allowed to touch the ball on offense except on fast breaks

we need him to play like a defense specialist

I get what Bimathug is saying. I really do, but i feel there isn't a big trade to be had. We've already used the entire lin. D-mo is our biggest asset, but front court depth is our biggest need.

Only "big" trades that are plausible are for Greg Monroe, Dragic, and maybe Jeff Green. Out of those, I would not trade Dmo for Dragic NOW because we need him in the front court. I feel like this year's trade deadline will be all hype, no fireworks. I'd pull the trigger on the something we can get NOW and see how it works out.

No other contender, but yeah. Also the Miami thing is contingent on McBob having a mensiscus repair AND being out for the year AND being awarded the DPE.

Meanwhile, Morey is chilling in the corner with his BAE...

The problems with Smith aren't that he can't shoot the 3. They are as follows:

    1) He can't shoot the 3
    2) He thinks he can shoot the 3
    3) He can't shoot midrange shots
    4) He thinks he can shoot midrange shots
    5) He can't take jumpers in the paint
    6) He thinks he can take jumpers in the paint

He can dunk. He is one of the least efficient players you can think of, and he plays power forward. Power forwards that can "finish" shouldn't have percentages that look like a jump shooting guard with a broken hand.

Agreed. There's no big trade to make for a max salary guy. The only trades you could consider are for guys that we could match salaries for anyway. The hardcap isn't going to be an issue.

The dream of adding a 3rd max player to this roster is gone.

But at least it would be locked up with a bunch of mid-level contracts ( Terry's 4 million, Pap's 5 million, Brewer's 4 million, presumably Smith's 1.5 million) instead of one big near untradeable contract (Parsons' 15 million), so you can split up the contracts much easier for a big trade.

We have picks. We have Pop. Also, who knows how desperate PHX is to deal Dragic if it seems like he's leaving in FA AND the Suns have no playoff hopes. The big bad west is a blur right now, but as pieces fit together teams will make moves. Or not...

Even though I'm not a fan of smith, rockets need sexy names for legitimacy.

Then why does Morey want him? Or is this another smokescreen?

That's why I said far far far less of an impact. There's wiggle room, and Morey is a master of the wiggle.

There is essentially only one way this goes bad for the Rockets...If someone picks up his contract via waivers...then again, there is essentially one team I can think that would do something like that (Sacramento)...but I dont think they have space.

HE is expected to clear waivers, but sometimes you never know how desperate teams act..

Once he clears...I think the Rockets will most likely get him signed before Christmas.

Two years ago, he was shooting 77% at the rim. If we put him in a position to succeed, he will.

Without having read the previous pages, I'll say that I'm afraid that makes us the leading candidate to land the 40/30/40 Josh Smith. Granted we'll probably play him at pf (his natural position), so those numbers should go up. But looking at some of the ft% on this team, I'm thinking about trying out for the Rockets.
