Josh Smith has told the Hawks he wants to be traded ahead of the March 15 deadline, sources tell the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Smith has previously complained about getting singled out for criticism by the coaches and media. Now he reportedly "believes he needs a fresh start with a franchise where he can better reach his potential on and off the court." Smith is also upset that the Hawks didn't do enough to promote him for the All-Star team and wants to play for a team more committed to winning for a championship. The Hawks will never be able to get equal value for Smith, who is 26 and under contract through the 2012-13 season. It's hard to see a deal getting done here. He's really good this year, he's playing SF, PF some C and he's the only player in their squad that is trying to be a leading dog and he's doing it well. He's the one and only reason for their successful playoff push this year
Lol anyone remember this? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4SxJldJdYUE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
one of my favorite NBA players. rededicated himself to basketball and lost a lot of weight in the offseason. He's been carrying the Hawks all year, and I was surprised he wasn't voted into the All-star game. Homeboy averages 17pts, 2 blocks, and 10 boards a game. He is the complete package at the 4 position, as long as he has the discipline not to fall in love with the 18 footer (I believe another poster referenced that). I think McHale could bring the best out of him. At 26, he's a player to build around.
Would be a great improvement at the PF. Morey would be wise to pick him up. Defense is greatly needed on this team.
mehh why not try to get him? after all, Morey is trying to trading anyone on our team for anyone else before the deadline.
I agree. The rockets should take a chance with Josh Smith! He's a young, athletic power foward who plays defense. Pairing him with Dalembert would be a defensive upgrade in the paint and then Lowry running point. DAMN!!! Get it done Morey!
what does it take for us to get him? come on people, only 13 replies on this one, I am so excited about this. What players we have that will fulfill Hawks' need?
I haven't seen him play on a regular basis in years. How is his perimeter defense? I'd like to see him play the 3 if he can guard wings. I know he has been rebounding out of his mind lately, but I love the idea of having a long frontcourt for once. Also, would he be willing to look for better shots? Or is he the type to chuck no matter what...
