Former MLB player Jose Offerman, who was managing a winter league game in the Dominican, took a full swing at an umpire. <object width="640" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4NKpFVQJeZE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4NKpFVQJeZE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed></object> 1) How in the world was Jose Offerman managing a team after the <a href="http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=133537">bat-attack incident in 2007</a>? 2) Check out the slow-mo replay below ... the ump pulled that one straight from the John Stockton School of Flopping. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZHHU8xREcXA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZHHU8xREcXA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Not so sure it was a flop. Clearly Offerman didn't come close to cracking his jaw, looks like the ump was so shocked that the guy took a swing at him, that when he leaned back, he was off balance and just fell. Anyway: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zjAaZd8XhxU&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zjAaZd8XhxU&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> I think that catcher may have saved that pitcher's life.
