Congrats, Jose. Well-deserved.

Astros 2B Jose Altuve, who began last year in Class A ball, chosen to represent NL in 2012 All-Star Game. Congrats Altuve! I can't believe La Russa chose Ian Desmond of the Nationals at back up SS over Lowrie. I can't see a way that any of the three NL SS's (Fookie, Castro and Desmond) are having a better season than Lowrie. Those were terrible picks.
Desmond has one few HR and a lower OPS. But he has a higher average and more runs, RBIs, and steals. And he plays for the best team in the NL, which probably carried some weight. Castro is a bit more questionable - is he the only Cub?
You can make a strong case that Aaron Hill deserved to be on the team more then Altuve. Ian Desmond and Starlin Castro are better overall players then Lowrie. Just don't look at HRs. Lowrie did deserve it more then Rafael Furcal though.
No, Lahair made it. Lowrie definitely was snubbed. Best SS in the NL this season, and 3 SS make the team, and not one is Lowrie.
Who is looking at just HR? 1st in Slugging 1st in OBP Lowrie has a better fldg % than Castro and Desmond, and a higher range factor than Furcal and Desmond. It is a joke. Couldn't even make the final vote ballot.
Congrats to Altuve! Well deserved and hopefully one of many to come in an Astros uni On Lowrie...I think the win total is totally valid for Desmond given that they're in the same general area so far this year in terms of stats. But Castro over Lowrie is a joke given that the Cubs already have another player in
