I was at the game, and as happy as i was to see the rockets win and Yao have another imprssive game, i was disapointed. I, like may other people there (if not everbody), was there to see Mike. Tonight was probably the last time he will ever play in Houston, and his performance was disapointing. For instance, at the end of the game when the Wizards were making a semi-comeback, and we were missing free throws left and right, I would be thrilled to see us loose on a Michael Jordan buzzer beeter. I mean, how badass would that have been. I kind of feel bad for the guy. He is the best player ever, and now he sucks. Or at least tonight he did. But overall, Yao supplied the entertainment value to make the game worth it for me, but I wish MJ would have done something instead of playing like crap.
I won't get into another argument right now. But please, please people... stop stating your opinions as if they were facts. It's as simple as adding "I think" right before "he is the best player ever."
JORDAN IS THE BEST EVER...U HERE THAT!!! ...oh that's right, your the one that thinks that Jerry West would take MJ one on one...LOL
How is he not? I'll give you a few hints... (whispering now) There's this guy who's the only non-guard to ever lead the league in assists, is the all-time leading rebounder, and may be the most prolific scorer ever. Referee Earl Strom even said he averaged "about 8 blocks per game" for his career (blocks weren't recorded back in the day, and yes there was a goaltending rule). He was stronger than Jordan, jumped higher than him, and was faster than him in a dead sprint. The only reason he didn't win a string of titles was that he always had to play the greatest team ever in the finals, the 60s Celtics. (end whispering) Oh yeah, and did I forget to mention the lane was widened to 16 feet (currently 12) for the duration of his career, and it still didn't stop him? You can see that there is some room for debate here. It's fine to be of the opinion that Jordan is the greatest, but if you think it can't be argued, you need a reality check.
I wouldn't be thrilled to see my team lose ever..not even if Pistol Pete came back from the grave and played us
Oh so true... Though I admit I hate it in other sports when perfect records are messed up, etc. It killed me when Rulon Gardner beat Aleksandr Karelin in the Giant's last Olympic match ever. Yeah, I know America won. But Karelin's record is now something like 999,999,999,999 and 1. That just ticks me off.
Watching Jordan at this age is as brutal as it was to watch Hakeem at the end also. I hate watching superstar players push past their prime. When they are mere shadows of themselves, it gets hard to enjoy them.
And I maintain that was disgusting! Big tangent here... DAROckets, I'm wondering: what's your favorite sports moment ever? I love basketball above all other sports, and football and gymnastics both come in a distant second. But I have to go with Kerri Strug's vault on a bum ankle to beat Russia and Svetlana Khorkina (in my opinion the greatest ever) in the '96 Olympics. You? (What the hell!? Why do I like so many Russians!? I just noticed that myself! )
Never would I want our team to lose to any player regardless of who it is. This is a display of mire weakness. You must always want to win no matter if you are posting up your mother. Winning is the goal at all times. Jordan is playing for his own needs and deserves no slack. You want your team to lose just for Jordan
No doubt, but would you want to see the Rockets lose just to see Jordan hit a last second shot at the laptop
Like in Game 6 against the Jazz where he pulled that killer pushover... I mean crossover on B-Russ. I don't need to see more of that against the Rockets, thanks.
Do you roam the boards searching for Jordan-related threads?Seriously? Because whenever someone posts something about Mike, here you come. Is it your destiny to make people hate the man as much as you do?
Let's see... nope, nope, and nope. I don't go everywhere and bash Jordan just to bash Jordan. What I'm really arguing against most of the time is people who say that "Jordan is the best ever: it is an indisputable fact." This thread, for example: I reply by politely asking people to stop acting as if their opinions were facts. Israel's Son comes right back with "Jordan is the best player ever, how is he not?", effectively throwing my request for some objectivity back in my face. I was content to just forget this thread unitl Israel's Son said that. I mean, that's a direct challenge to me, is it not? You'll notice the wink after the pushover-crossover comment? It was meant in good fun. It's not like everything I say is meant to defile Jordan. I'm sure Wilt got some bad calls in his favor too... just none that famous.
Where's your proof that Wilt was faster and that had a better vertical because I really want to see what those #'s were? Wilt was the greatest offensive player ever, but was he as clutch as Jordan? Wilt could dominate a game with his athleticism, but could he do it with pure will? Do you ever just sit back and wonder why so many people, not just fans, but players, former players, coaches, and sports reporters all say that Jordan is the best ever? I guess they are all idiots. If he was a great as you say, I'm pretty sure he would have found a way to win more rings than he did.
