I don't think I've ever noticed a player having such bad hands before. He constantly fumbles/mishandles rebounds, passes, and loose balls because of it. This is something that was listed as a negative on his scouting reports coming into the draft so it's nothing new but I'm having a hard time deciding just how problematic this is. Is it an area that can be approved on? Is this something that will always be a big weakness and limit his potential effectiveness? Anyone have any thoughts on this?
He picked up basketball late, which might have something to do with it. Maybe as he gains more experience and the game slows down a bit for him, he'll do a better job.
At the beginning he often fumbles the ball alot. But when he starts to get more comfortable, he's getting better at catching the ball. Sure its something he can work on but its more of being ready for the pass than anything. Yao also have the same problem too. But as time goes on, he improved a bit in that area.
He's not totally comfortable making his moves just yet, which causes him to think more about what he's going to do once he gets the ball as opposed to catching it first. That will come with time.
And here I was thinking his hands aren't as bad as I'd heard before we got him. He looks like he's improved a lot in that area, IMO.
Well, I think Yao also had the same problem before. But he is much better than before. So I think it is an area he can work on and get improvement.
Betterthennever, for the fourth time bro take my quote of your sig. You in love with me or something?
I am not as worried about this because it hasn't affected him when rebounding the ball, he has excelled at getting the types of rebounds that neither Scola or Hayes are physically able to go out and get.
Im pretty sure it's the opposite....there was a thread last season, i believe, on how large his hands appeared.
