The only thing that has kept me interested in the Rockets this season, has been watching the progression of Jordan Hill. He struggled a bit on offense tonight but his defense was AMAZING in the fourth quarter. Gasol couldn't get around or over him, and most impressively, he was able to stay in front of Odom. He still struggles on some defensive rotations but I think he needs to be getting at least 20+ min a game, which he has recently, to continue to grow. I'm really excited about this guy.
Yeah he really did an amazing job. I was keeping a close eye on that matchup the entire game. He was physical with Gasol and took him off his game.
this really surprised me. i completely agree, though against the likes of al jefferson, perkins, insert chubby post-up big here, id still prefer hayes in the game. AND, as a side note, and this is very important IMO.. IF OFFENSE STAGNATES, JUST ADD BMILLER.
That's why he needs to take all of Chucks mins if not most of them. If he can defend like that, there is no reason Chuck should be sharing mins with him, none at all. He also made some good passes.
Seeing him more in the fourth quarter is a great sign for Rockets' fans. That boosts a player's confidence a lot.
Shaky first half, but he played really well in the second half. A couple of big-time rebounds in traffic in the 4th quarter which were huge.
The two clutch freethrows he made in the fourth will probably be the biggest shots he has made in his entire career. He has proven that he could play down the stretch, now RA just needs to give him more minutes
I'm going to watch the replay beacuse I thought Hill and Scola got beasted by Odom. He did play fantastic defense on Gasol, Hill was just too long.
I was gonna make a thread on this after the Dallas game. He also played very solid defense on Dirk too. He stayed under control and in position. It looks like things are starting to click for him.
I would contend that if Adelman had stubbornly stuck to his usual rotation and forced Chuck Hayes in for big 4th Q mins there is no way we win this game. There were numerous occasions where J. Hill's height and length bothered Gasol and came up with key rebounds that there is no way Chuck would have been able to get to. All in all, huge win and kudos to Adelman for finally relenting.
really? he was part of the crew that got us back into the game and seemed to work really well offensively in the quarter. showing some post up moves and even kicking out to the open man. i thought his first half was very good offensively and his second half very good defensively. my .02
Odom was hot tonight, Scola/Battier couldn't keep up with him but Hill did a nice job on Odom at the end of the 3rd.
