Simply stated, it was good to see Hill get some run against the Pistons, and I hope he continues to play and put up solid numbers, because he is a possible key piece in getting us a primary target (ie Bosh). Because we got him as essentially a 'throw in' with Martin, this is about to become one of Morey's greatest additions...not because Hill is going to be a star Rocket4life - but he's about to play a BIG role in securing a 3rd star player to combine with Yao and Martin. Good god, I cannot WAIT for 10/11.
Well obviously he is trade bait. I'd really love to see a Scola + AB + Hill package work for Bosh (I honestly feel we'll have to give at least that to have any shot @ a superstar). But if Hill can start to play really well and the Raptors would rather have a knick's first rounder, Hill would make a really nice backup PF/C.
I think that's giving too much. Remember, we almost got Amare for Scola, COOK, and Battier. For all we know Toronto could want Jefferies and Battier's expiring, not far fetched if they're trading Bosh. Throw in Budinger and/or our upcoming 10-14 pick.
First of all, Hill was not a throw in, Morey insisted that Jordan Hill be part of the trade!!, and second if were packaging up Scola(+brooks & Fillers) in a Bosh trade, than we cant let go of hill so easily....who's gonna be our back up PF behind Bosh A package like Scola & Brooks + Filler(Taylor and Battier + NY draft picks) should be able to get the deal done.... --RB
why would toronto want expiring contracts for the next year, when they already have cap space open from bosh right then? the only possibility is to use at trade bait during the season, but they can just use bosh in a sign and trade to acquire assets
I dont know their cap situation off the top of my head, but if Toronto is already over the cap then the expirings may be useful in a future trade to acquire talent from another team.
This. Also keep in mind that if Bosh decides he wants to play here and asks Toronto to do a sign and trade, they won't have the same kind of leverage they would normally have in a straight up trade because if a deal can't be reached, they could still lose Bosh and get nothing in return.
We have a knack for developing young players, especially front court players with a good working attitude. I'm not ready for another Greene for Artest type trade. I think I want Hill around unless we can somehow trade him for a young and proven player.
then ship his ass off. I want Bosh to be with Martin and Yao but I want to keep the great scoring guard combo we have with Martin and Brooks too so I don't want Brooks gone.
keep hill, screw bosh. i dont understand why everyone on this forum is obsessed with luring bosh to houston. the guy simply hasn't been getting the job in toronto (a lot like the other guy who couldn't get much done in toronto). get over it, build from scratch and develop players and if you can get a wade, lebron, etc.....then do it. but bosh, amare and joejohnsons can all be passed up on in my opinion.
Nobody walks from 30 million dollars....there are so many players in the market this time around that you will have to give up a steep price if you want someone good.
If he does a sign+trade, then we can give him the maximum. Same amount of money Toronto could give him. So he would not be losing $30M.
Luis Scola would have to actually agree with any trade we put together. We act like we can just send him to whatever team and he'll say, Yeah, sure. Toronto might be more appealing to foreign-born players than it is to American players, but still...
