The Sporting News Radio Network (aka: 610 AM here in town when the locals or Rome isn't on) is reporting that Mike has contacted Dream and that he wants Hakeem to come to the Wizards. The obvious conclusion is that Mike is continuing to work on his "NBA senior tour." It was a bad joke when fans mentioned it. That Dream/Chuck/Mike might actually end up together on the floor next year - in Wizards Gear - is frightening. ------------------
That is called tampering. If proven, my guess is the Wizards would be in big trouble. ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
Well, if Dream does go to the Wiz with hopes that he is going to win a championship... or even get deep in the playoffs, then he is sorely mistaken. Jordan might be able to get close to his basketball form before his retirement, but Barkley won't manage to get even close to his pre-retirement form, and Hakeem hasn't even retired yet and he is slowing down fast. ------------------ Watch out for gay Limbo Dancers.
Even if somehow the league found out that Jordan was tampering, you know they wouldn't do anything about it, David Stern worships this guy. ------------------ Watch out for gay Limbo Dancers.
I thought tampering only applies when a player is currently under contract with another team. Anyone can jabber at Hakeem now ... ------------------ women love me, records make me poo
TheEast is very weak. MJ/CB4/Dream and 9 WNBA players could make the playoffs. Dream is in an interesting position. He can be loyal to Houston, he can chase a ring and be a backup (Lakers or maybe Heat if they don't blow up their team) or he can consider going somewhere else where he can play and try to chase a ring (Washington). I think he wants to stay in Houston, but depending on what the team looks like next year (ie/ if Dream thinks we are a legitimate playoff threat).
I think Dream is technically under contract until June 1 or July 1 or something. Anyway, this is utterly ridiculous. If I was Jordan and I was set to make a comeback to the NBA, I would not go around trying to recruit a bunch of guys as old and over the hill as I was. Unless, of course, I wasn't serious about winning and just wanted to use the Wizards as my own personal playground. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
I came to the board to post this... it's indeed accurate. Nice scoop edc. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
I hope Hakeem remembers the offensive difficuties they ran into when he and Barkley were on the floor at the same time... Both he and CB like to operate on that left low block. It usually rendered one or the other ineffectual while the other was making his move... Dream would have to put up with that again if he played over at Washington. ------------------ Watch out for gay Limbo Dancers.
Where does Jordan prefer to post up at? It's prety apparent that MJ (like after his last comeback) won't be able to blow by people. His offensive game will be as a post up guard. Go thing for the Wizards are that CB4 will take a backseat to MJ and if that means only touching the ball on off-rebounds I think CB would do it. Of course he would still be in the paint but I think he would give up the lower left block for either MJ or Dream if that's what MJ says. I think MJ is trying to get a core of vets who may be old but know how to win, and maybe more importantly will play cheaply. He is guessing that by signing these old super-stars that he can lure some young studs (Webber or Vince) and some role players (outside shootwers to spot up). Will be interesting to see if his experiment works better than Portlands (trying to get aging stars and forming a team).
If Dream is not going to resign with our Rockets, it would be great to watch him team up with Jordan and Barkley. It would be very interesting. DaDakota ------------------ If you like RTS games, check out this one. www.frontierwars.com coming soon to a PC near you.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE should the Rockets allow Dream to go to the Wiz! I know, I know, he is a free-agent and can go anywhere he wants, but if it means giving Dream a few extra dollars to keep him here, I am all for it. I will contribute by going to each home game. BTW, I am a huge Chuckster fan, but I don't think he can get down to the weight MJ wants, that is why he has contacted Dream. No Barkley, means no problems in left low block. Screw Jordan! He is the most overrated jock (itch) who ever play professional sports. I still can't believe how NBC (and all other sports networks) show MJ's so-called winning shot before his LAST retirement. He clearly committed an offensive foul! What a crock of bull$%@& ------------------ "...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!" That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.
Hey FranchiseCat, I hate Jordan almost as much as you. I hated the fact that David Stern based all of his league promotions on the guy, and is now whiny about why the league attendance has dropped since Jordan left. But I don't see how you can say that Jordan was the most overated player ever. Despite the fact that he got all the calls, you have to admit that Michael Jordan was nothing short of an absolutely amazing basketball player. ------------------ Watch out for gay Limbo Dancers.
With all that could happen this summer is anyone not pleased with what the 2001-2002 season is shaping up to be? ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams and Lisa Malosky fan club. atheistalliance.org
I hope this happens. I would love to see those three old guys try to win a ring and make fools out of themselves. I don't care how great Jordan was and still is, anyone on the same team with Barkley is NOT going to win a ring... How long is it going to take people to figure this out??? I'm amused because Barkley is suddenly working out and trying to get in shape after he's basically got about 1 mm of tread left on his tires, and he thinks he's going to come back and win a ring? It will take him less than three months before he has another major injury. Ditto Hakeem. I love the guy but if he's going to play starters minutes he'll never survive a whole season... This is probably more of a publicity stunt orchestrated by the NBA front office... Ratings and revenues are stinking so bad that they are talking these guys into coming back. I've got a better solution: STOP DRAFTING 20 YEAR OLD KIDS WHO CAN'T PLAY BALL!!! The NBA has become a developmental league, not a pro league. Who wants to go watch a game where 90% of the players are punks who think that cell phones and fancy clothes are more important than the game? It's a joke, and the NBA only has itself to blame. At least they should wait until someone is a junior before drafting them. I mean, come on... ------------------
When Hakeem comes back next season, I'm hoping it is as a Rocket. But if he plays for another team, I would like to see him go out on top - to have a chance at another championship. Playing with MJ and CB4 on the Wiz is about the worst way to finish a distinguished career, IMHO. Playing for a bad (at best, mediocre) team and taking less money to do it. ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
Axe- Your reason why the NBA sucks is the same reason the Wizards could be succesful with the 3 old guys. Alot of the kids in the league don't know how to play as a team. They ar egood one-on-one players who don't have much of a concept of defense. Look how good MJ made his teammates. Scottie was regarded (by some) as the 2nd best player in the NBA and since then he has shown he would have a hard time being the MVP of the CBA. Kerr & Paxson could do what they did best (shoot open jumpers). Dream carried a group of players in the 1st championship (outside of Sam) who really never blossomed to anything great (but alot of clutch players like Mario). I don't know about the injuries. You are probably right but wishing (or planning on injuries) to one Houston Icon and another who had a couple wonderful years here is wrong. My point is the Wizrds could be succesful very quickly in the East. Plus I know (not to tick anybody off) but I would rather watch an old MJ, CB4 & Dream play than the current Rockets. Maybe it's nostalgia and maybe the novelty would pass, but it gets me pumped up thinking about 3 of the greatest players ever playing together. THey are all past their prime but I think those 3 could still school most of the current NBA teams.
Is it tampering for a player to call up another player to get an opinion? I thought it was tampering if you put a deal on the table. Also, do you think Pippen might end up with them ... even though Bark will be there? ------------------ Im too drunk to walk ... Im driving home!
hey, RunninRaven When Sir Charles retired he was the best player on the rockets. That's a fact. Quit talking smack on the mound. His defense is the only problem that the Wizards might have trouble with. His offense and rebounds could be easily still in the top of the league. ------------------
