I'm thinking he should welcome a supporting role at this point. Not the most dignified thing to do, but probably the smarter thing to do.

Interesting, but how are they gonna convince Wade to stay in Miami.

Seems ideal for everyone, helps keep Wade happy and pairs him with a real good player but one who doesn't need the ball. If it is strictly a FA signing then it could help the Heat a lot.

Can Wade play SF? or JJ off bench?

Johnson seems to have the ball a lot in ATL. He played off the ball in PHX but that was years ago. I wonder how he can adjust to taking a back seat.

JJ would play SF, or Wade would play PG with JJ playing SG.

No way would they pay JJ all of that money to come off of the bench, and I don't think he would want to come off of the bench.

True but I also saw were he would setup on the wings waiting for an open shot and in Miami he would get tons of those types of shot. I think with a better pg, or point forward in this case, JJ would thrive but like you said would he accept being a supporting actor after being the main attraction all these years.

yeah im sure the heat are interested in jj... but he's probably not the first choice.

they need a big guy to pair with wade. bosh, amare, and boozer are probably all higher on their list.

i would bet that johnson feels the same about the heat. he's too redundant next to wade, and the heat aren't that good of a team. if i were him i would look for a S&T to the suns or mavs. those teams could use him and they have a chance to win.

The Heat need a big man, not Joe Johnson. Joe Johnson needs a team that will fit to his playing style... that would not be the Heat...

Joe Johnson - The Ray Allen 2010
Take the supporting roll . .. just a spot up shooter.

He's an inconsistent Ray Allen... and that is all.

Don't really see this happening unless Heat strike out on Bosh, Amare, and Boozer.

The Heat have the most cap space with only two players under contract.

There is a good chance the Heat will have this team next season:

    Chalmers / Arroyo
    Wade / Wright / Richardson
    Johnson / Jones / Cook
    Beasley / Haslem / Aminu
    Bosh / Anthony

Even at this age, Ray Allen is 1000 times more clutch than Joe Johnson and is an overall better player

In terms of just shooting, Johnson isn't even in Allen's league. A lot of the guy's value is as a stat sheet filler(a poor man's T-Mac if you will). So taking the ball out of his hand makes his value a lot less.

If Miami wants a shooter... S&T with Kevin Martin? :)

Ray Allen isn't better than JJ right now. That's ridiculous.

The Heat have one 1st rounder and three 2nd rounders which could probably land them another first rounder if they choose (unlikely since they need more players).

I know they don't want Boozer, LeBron is a dream, and Anthony doesn't fit in with Wade. Bosh and Johnson make the most sense and can easily be attained given their salary condition.

Clutch Fans, say goodbye to Bosh.

Here's what Riley has saved in his cell.

    Give Bosh the max.
    Sign Johnson - $42.3 million - 5 years

    Chalmers / Arroyo
    Wade / Richardson
    Johnson / Wright / Jones
    Beasley / (2nd rounders)
    Bosh / (Sanders) / Anthony

If they can't afford to keep Richardson (not a big loss) they will probably draft a SG in the 2nd round to back Wade up.
