In the celebration of the wonderful film release of Walk The Line, I thought I would post this albiet "probably seen before" photo, but it is truly awesome and hilarious. Man was Cash the man or what....
That reminds me of "I've been everywhere, man... I've been everywhere, man..." not for real, jk... i have been to Orlando, Dallas, Brownsville and El Paso as the furthest distances...
I hear the train a comin'; it's rollin' 'round the bend, And I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when. I'm stuck at Folsom Prison and time keeps draggin' on. But that train keeps rollin' on down to San Antone. When I was just a baby, my mama told me, "Son, Always be a good boy; don't ever play with guns." But I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die. When I hear that whistle blowin' I hang my head and cry. I bet there's rich folk eatin' in a fancy dining car. They're prob'ly drinkin' coffee and smokin' big cigars, But I know I had it comin', I know I can't be free, But those people keep a movin', and that's what tortures me. Well, if they freed me from this prison, if that railroad train was mine, I bet I'd move on over a little farther down the line, Far from Folsom Prison, that's where I want to stay, And I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away. That right there just shows how incredible this man was, wow wow wow, chuck norris, chuck hayes, up chuck, whatever, don't have **** on the man in black!
that was a great movie! i went expecting it to be o.k., but i was blown away. great story and amazing acting performances. and young elvis was rad - "hey, want some of these chillifries?" i cant believe they already got it out on video though!
Well, shoot, you know what, now that I think 'bout it, close to it in Nacogdoches to a SFASU.edu tour with a friend... but... alas, "I haven't been everywhere, man... I haven't been everywhere, man... " I once met The Man In Black himself in Fort Worth, though. I was in the drama club--but I was still very MACHO--and we went to see a play named The Boys Next Door in Tarrant County Junior College about a "special ed" school... and we stayed in the Holiday Inn North of FW. The English teacher who went with us and I were in the hallway going downstairs to get some ice, when out of nowhere there is this tall, older dude, in aviator glasses. He walks over from far away in the hall, and the teacher says to me: "Hey, Miguel, let's go over there!!!! That's Johnny Cash!!!" So we walk over there. Mind you, I had only been in the states for 4 years at around that time. I said "ok, let's go and say hello, if you want to." So we walk over, he's getting some ice, and the teacher greets him and introduces me to him. I say "Hi, Mr. Cash... nice to meet you." Needless to say, the teacher was EXCITED to see Mr. Cash and he speaks to him about what he's doing. Johnny says he's just visiting some folks and is staying for a few days and that he's working on some new material, and my teacher says some other stuff I can't remember. As we take long, he says: "Well, I have to go, ya'll... it was nice to meet you... take care" very nicely said and very courteous with us... he was happy to talk to regular folk. So as we walk away, the teacher says to me: "WOW!!! We got to meet Johnny Cash, Miguel!" in his excitement. I wait until Cash is out of the picture and we're in the room again and I ask: "Man... ummm... WHO THE F9ck is JOHNNY CASH???!?!?!???" I tell that story so much now. True story. Good times.
Oh, yeah... he only watched the COLUMBUS game... right... or maybe only the MEX vs. USA game in the World Cup... and that's how he drew his conclusions... yeah, I understand. That was a good one, though, Mr Double D cup.
I doubt it... but then again, HE's been EVERYWHERE. And if he had lived so much, he probably saw ALL the scores.
It was pretty funny when Rick Rubin (with Cash's ok) used that photo to 'thank the nashville community for all their support' when he won another grammy in the 90s. Hilarious.
CMT has shown a bunch of Cash related shows in the last few days. The documentary where he's at San Quentin is especially cool. On Wednesday they had a documentary about The Highwaymen as well. When I was about 8 my parents took my to a Johnny Cash show. Not bad for a guy's first concert.
Si quien es mas macho? Swoly Master Thespian or Johnny Cash The Man in Black? Hmmm.... On another note one of the best Barras vs. Tri matches was when we went to the Azteca and got a draw for the 98 WC and the mexican press treated it practically as a loss.
Well, you wonder why I always dress in black, Why you never see bright colors on my back, And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone. Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on. I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down, Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town, I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime, But is there because he's a victim of the times. I wear the black for those who never read, Or listened to the words that Jesus said, About the road to happiness through love and charity, Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me. Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose, In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes, But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back, Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black. I wear it for the sick and lonely old, For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold, I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been, Each week we lose a hundred fine young men. And, I wear it for the thousands who have died, Believen' that the Lord was on their side, I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died, Believen' that we all were on their side. Well, there's things that never will be right I know, And things need changin' everywhere you go, But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right, You'll never see me wear a suit of white. Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day, And tell the world that everything's OK, But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back, 'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.
Who the **** is Johnny Cash? Seriously? seriously? Icon of Icons man. Johnny Cash has a message for you Swoly-D
