As many of you know, John Patterson, Castor's brother-in-law made his major-league debut tonight, and was pretty good.

He went 6 innings, gave up only three hits, one of those a solo shot by Tom Lapkin, for his only run allowed. Unfortunately, the D'Backs couldn't get any runs across till the 8th inning, so he gets a No Decision in his debut.

He's made a pretty strong recovery for someone who had Tommy John surgery only a little over two years ago. Last year he was shaky, his fastball didn't zip, and his best pitch - a big hook, wasn't always there - though you expect that from a player coming off of major surgery.

This year, he's been much better, culminating in tonight's impressive outing.

John is the man (too bad I had to trade him to Castor...;) ).

He got 2 outstanding defensive plays from Spivey and McCracken. I guess this means Rick Helling is out of the rotation, which I am very thankful of.

Patterson is from my hometown of Orange, TX, so I'm very excited for him, even though he went to the cross-town rival high-school. I think my brother played against him in Pony Colt league.
