This is long overdue. John Madden lost his mind quite some time ago.

    hahahaha. yup

It just wouldn't be a football season for Madden if he couldn't talk about how much fun Favre has playing football

He was still pretty entertaining to listen to, babbling idiot or not.

I'm guessing Collinsworth takes his place now on SNF?

For some reason Collinsworth annoys me. I always finding myself telling him to shut up when playing Madden. Maybe it's because I suck at Madden.

I personally enjoyed him, guess it was watching all those game when I was a kid growing up that he called. He'll be missed but I'd say its time to enjoy his family.

Its Collinsworth's time now... in fact, it was overdue.

There's a reason the guy was on THREE different networks at virtually the same time to showcase his NFL knowledge. He's pretty easygoing, not too opiniated, doesn't come off as a jerk-off "know-it-all", and doesn't simply speak to hear his own voice (Mark Jackson).

I'd actually prefer the Costas-Collinsworth duo more than the Michaels-Collinsworth. To me, Al Michaels seems to thrive more in the 3-man booth, where he can simply stick to the play-by-play. When he's in a 2-man booth, he tries to interject his own thought/analysis way too much (maybe that's because he was carrying Madden these last 2 years). He also makes too many unfunny comments when he's actually trying to be funny. Too bad he doesn't have Dierdorf anymore to yuck it up.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a shot (he does), but this statement is totally false.

Although Madden frustrated me at times with his nothing to do with the game rants, he'll be missed. Collinsworth gets the replacement, I'll give him a chance before judging him.
