There is plenty go be offended by here. The number one thing is him saying "we. It betrays the fact that he believes America not to be a melting pot, but a white country. Why is he so scared of not having a white majority? Why does talk about the U.S. racial population and then make the statement that We need more babies. It is clear that he doesn't think of hispanics as being American.

I can't believe he is still on the air.

    John Gibson's AmeriKKKa.

Can't believe he's still on the air? Faux News probably gave him a hefty raise after that ridiculous comment.

Hasn't there been something in the news about a Reconquista Movement to re-capture CA, TX, NM, AZ et al and secede from the Union?

I don't know. What does that have to do with John Gibson's view of white America?

For someone who watches John Gibson on semi-regular basis, I am not in the least bit surprised.

Gibson, O'Reilly, and Hume are three of a kind...

Someone needs to put a parental lock on some of your cable channels if you can't watch TV more responsibly. :p

There is no melting pot when no one melts. How is his view of white America any different than a view of brown-, black-, or (?) yellow-America? If one sub-culture can self-identify and stand apart, why can't any sub-culture?

Are you saying hispanics are purposely having more kids to retake these states or are you trying to say that because there is a group that believes these states should be given back to Mexico, that it's ok for John Gibson to say what he said?

Why can't you just have a standard and say they are both wrong?

BTW, doesn't it seem like the only channel that even gives these "give the land back to mexicans" people any air time is Fox?

You do know there is a difference between hispanics and mexicans, right ? Or is anyone not completely white a little less American ?

What is the point of this statement giddyup?

By the way, the kind of silly nonsense referenced above is hardly new.

europe faces the same dilemma. the immigrant population is reproducing at a faster rate. this will inevitably force social change. this is what people fear.

There is just a confluence of factors that make white America nervous. The Reconquista movement is out there. We are involved in a major push to legitimize how many millions of illegal immigrants? The birth rate is a matter of fact. We just witnessed demonstrations where American flags were being burned in the shadow of Mexican flags. Many counties/states now have to support both English and Spanish public education systems. Is that the melitng pot we used to "enjoy?" It's not.

I just met a new family that moved into our community. He was recruited to a very nice high-tech job. They both hail from Binghamton, NY, lived in New Jersey for a good long while, then 10 years in and around Pasadena, CA. I asked him how he like NC. He talked about the nice people, liveability factors (real estate, traffic, schools)... they love the 4-season climate without extremes, and the last thing he said..... "the people speak English." Now I haven't been out to CA to size up the problem there and this is probably a formerly liberal Northeasterner. Why is he saying something like that?

Fine. Will that actually put an end to the issue?

I don't know about that. I rarely watch Fox News.

hmmmm, probably poor wording on my part. should have said their (europe's) immigrant population. even if they are second or third generation, here or there, they bring new cultural aspects to their respective societies. that was my point.

    Sure. Why do you ask?

Anyone who doesn't embrace America is a little less American. You can disagree but don't destroy. You can argue but don't undermine.

You show me someone of Mexican/Hispanic descent saying that we need to have more babies in order to one day have a majority in this country and I'll show you an idiot, plain and simple.
I think the one of the problem's is that some segments of White America, who have had a majority for so long, can't bear to be thought of as minorities and maybe a loss of political or economic power that might go with it. It's almost as paranoid as the large number of white people leaving South Africa in the early '90s, when apartheid was abolished, thinking that the black majority were going to exact some kind of revenge for the way they were treated or that the country was going to go to hell in a handbasket when the black majority took charge. None of that came to pass and though the country has it's problems it is nowhere near the gloom and doom predicted by the white minority.
And just because there is no mass miscegenation doesn't mean that there isn't any happening.
