On Sports Center tonight, Clayton reported that McNair plans on picking up Carr's 8M option, preventing him from becoming a FA. He also said that the team's play will most likely result in Capers getting fired.

Not HUGE news, but I'm not suprised they gonna pick up Carr's option, it's better than just letting him walk and you can't trade someone you don't have a contract with.

I've always thought that Carr was a decent quarterback, however, because of the sorry offensive line we have in H-town, he hasn't been albe to perform to the max. Since our season is pratically tanked already, why not play Banks and Ragone some, just to see if the offensive line is the complete problem. Also, since it looks like we are in line for the #1 pick, what should they do with it. Use it on Bush, or trade for multiple first rounders. I think what the Texans desperately need is a playmaker! If you look at Reliant Stadium, it lacks the excitement that it used to have. It's kinda sad. Get Bush, a proven playmaker, and get H-town excited about the Texans again!

We really need to restructure his contract. It's asinine to have him around if he's taking up more than 4-5 mill a year on the cap.

Not really a question of WHO they would take with the #1 pick.. its either Bush or trade down now.

Two #1's in the backfield is impressive, plus Andre Johnson. wow. DD should fetch a lineman.

Gotta keep those jersey sales up. Plus, he's responsible for about 98% of the female viewership

Good move in keeping Carr. Just draft Bush, get some high draft picks out of it, rebuild that OL and get a solid #2 or #3 WR. Once that's done, they need to concentrate on FA for defensive help.

Next Step - hire JJ and Kubiak
    then Draft Bush
    then GET T.O.
spend draft picks 2-infinity on offensive and Defensive linement

Free Agent. . a *REAL* CORNER BACK!!

    If all that happens

I got the Texans in the playoffs.

No kidding that'd be a heck of a team.

Bush AJ and TO. That's insane.

I really hate to go into the tank effect, but this is the year to do it...

Getting the #1 or even #2 pick will help us turn this team around a lot faster than #3-5. At #1 you take Bush, at #2 you trade down to the highest bidder for Matt Leinart...I'm thinking teams are going to be offering more than ever to move up to get either of those guys.

The only real positive out of this Texans season is they picked a great draft year to fall apart.

    I'd say:
    1. Take Bush, and mull offers for him. If they approach the Ricky Williams draft day deal, move him and use the picks to overhaul the team. Otherwise, hold on to him see if Davis can be moved for a low #1 or a #2. "Worst" case scenario, we become a deadly wishbone offense.

    2. Past that, pour every resource into finding a left tackle.

    3. Final priority is getting Linebackers that are worth a damn. Losing Sharper and Foreman killed us this year, especially in the run defense.

the best thing to happen this season is getting rid of Casserley and Capers. I cannot stand a coach who's philosophy is "run the ball, strong defense, keep it close and have a chance in the fourth."

That is crap. My philosophy would be: "Try to score as many points as humanly possible while shutting out every opponent." I would tell my offensive coordinator, "Never stop scoring. If we are up by 40 play the game like we are down by 7." I'd tell my defensive coordinator, "I hate it when the opponent gets positive yardage. Your goal is to score touchdowns, too. And don't let your opponent have a positive net gainange in yeads."

Basically, Boise State Football, this year notwithstanding.

You speak as though it has happened. I see 10 reasons why Cass should go too but will he?

Question: do you see value, when up by 17+, in running more (but not a bunch more) extra running plays and in letting the play clock go almost all the way down before every hike? You know, clock management?

If the Texans trade down then Jimmy Williams (Va Tech) would be a good pick because other than Dunta all of our defensive backs suck.

Exactly. Why Capers is content on playing a close game, with the chance of winning the game in the 4th is beyond me. Why not just win the damn game with a decent lead? What a dumbass.

As far as Carr is concerned, the dude is actually putting up some decent numbers, considering the fact that a girl scout team is blocking up front for him and AJ has missed a significant portion of the season. All in all, I still have a lot of confidence in him. We just need to stop Casserly from wasting valuable picks so we can actually build a solid, deep team.
