    Hey guys,

So I started jogging last week. Surprisingly, my stamina hasn't stopped me as much as my legs. It feels like my shins are about to break. I've jogged through the pain, but the shins on both of my legs feel bruised as hell right now.

Any idea if I'm doing anything wrong, or do I just need to get the muscles to adjust, etc.?

If the pain persists after a week of jogging, see a doctor.

Flat feet or poor technique could cause it

I assume you're stretching your shins. If not stretch them. If so stretch them a little more.

    Find some shoes.

    Stretch before you run.

I did track in high school so I doubt it's technique, unless drinking made me forget how to run properly.

I have a feeling it might be the shoes. I just find that weird because shoes were never an issue with me when I was younger.

Could be. Are they old shoes?

And how long has it been since you've run? It could also just be small muscles.

What kind of surface are you jogging on? If it's concrete, try going to a school and running on their track.

I'm doing the track at Memorial. Pretty much dirt and sand.

There's your problem. Those shoes are not good for running at all. Buy a pair of Asics Kayanos.

Also make sure to stretch for a few minutes before jogging.

I have a pair of the Asics Kayanos. They're pricey, but well worth it. After sidelining as a sales associate at a running shoe store in my college days, I can safely say that the flashy looking running shoes (i.e. Nike Shox) are trash.

    Asics FTW.

I had the same problem. Rested for about a week and got new running shoes...problem solved.
