Joey seems to be turning out a little better this past couple of month. Although it's only D-league, being a D-league all-star could probably get him a role on the 3rd string of a team. It'll be funny if Dorsey turns out to be a beast, and Ariza develops into a superstar. If that happens I will set up a church for Morey.
dorsey not as bad a player as you people make him out to be. even his preseason rockets games weren't too bad. what's with all the dorsey hate? i at least feel that he is better than donte greene. donte greene was lucky enough to get a starting gig due to kevin's martin's injury, and all i have seen him greene so far, is that he is a really bad jumpshooter.
No one can be as dumb as he looks so I'm sure he realizes he's in the last year of his contract if he does start producing....something. Good to see at least some progress by the guy.
I wonder is Joey D, like JLIII et al, are basketball's equivalent of Class AAAA baseball players; too good for the D (or AAA) League(s) not good enough for (the) Show(time).
Nope. He's averaging 14pt/game in 31 min to be 46th in scoring. In the NBDL showcase, the Vipers played only 2 games. In the 2nd game, they played the Bakersfield Jam, the 2nd worst team in the NBDL. Dorsey destroyed them with 27 pts, but against regular competition he averages 14 pts.
OMG! They have sold the naming rights for a D-League callup. The "GATORADE" callup indeed. I am waiting for the TAMPAX/T-Mac Indefinite Leave of Absence!
Donte Greene is playing in the NBA and getting minutes, while Joey Dorsey is hooping it up in the D-League, with absolutely no regular-season minutes played yet.
They had a player on the 3rd team and an honorable mention. I didn't see any other DLeauge team with more than 2 players on the 3 showcase teams or 3 players total (including honorable mentions) either.
Dorsey would be getting average back-up minutes on most teams. He definitely has the physical talent to be a great rebounder and a good defender. However, I don’t see him ever seeing significant minutes on an Adelman team. Adelman’s offense requires a higher level of basketball IQ than most offensive systems. Dorsey is a couple years away from really fitting in offensively. Right now you have Hayes, who is a defensive specialist, and then you have Andersen, who enters the game when you need offense. The only thing that Dorsey can give you that is better than Hayes and Andersen is rebounding, and possibly blocks, but those two things are not worth sacrificing the overall offense and defense. Unless there is a trade it will be even harder for Dorsey to make the team next year when Yao is back.
Are they not calling fouls on him in the D-League? If I recall, he fouled out in the NBA in less than 5 minutes.
