Pete Vescey strikes again, claiming that there's been another wink-wink deal under investigation by the league.

Who do you think of when you hear "One-year deal followed by ridiculous extension"?

I didn't see Mo Taylor's name anywhere in that article.

That would be a disaster for us. Who else signed a long term deal recently after accepting a one year deal?

"Shaq called a players' only meeting yesterday and forbade any Lakers to attend except for Kobe. "

    Now that was funny...

AFAIK, Maurice Taylor has no "dumped agent." He has been with "superagent" David Falk forever.

Would Mo's case be considered tampering with the cap. The Rockets didn't exceed the cap to sign him, it was not a Bird-rights deal. They just had to wait for Dream's contract to expire. Would that be illegal? In Joe Smith's case thaty had a deal to wait for the Bird-rights to kick in so that they can exceed the cap.

Theres nothing wrong with saying "we can't afford" to do that, but we can afford to do this. Now NEXT year, when Dream's contract comes off, we could do this.

What was wrong on the Joe Smith deal was to sign a contract that STATED a clear inducement, if they took less this year, enabling them to sign them under the cap, they would reward them by making it up to them in the following years by specific contract terms.

Houston and Dallas just faced this with Rashard Lewis, where they had to say, we can't afford to pay you what Seattle is willing to pay this year, but we can give you our exeption for one year, and then the following year, you'll be worth more on the market, and perhaps we can do this or that. Obviously, Rashard finally decided to take the sure thing.

MoT doesn't seem like the type to do that, but Shandon may be a candidate.
