Tanking does imply an intention, doesn't it? For whom would he be tanking workout? What is his itch?

Only problem is he might go at #12. Either Seattle will take him, or they will trade to a team that wants him. We would be remarkably lucky to get him.

Somebody has to fall. You have 15 top ten players, so somebody has to fall out. I have seen Chandler dropping too. Rockets are in a good spot.

Didn't Joe Johnson have a great workout with the Rockets? I thought I remembered Clutch mentioning that in a post. Maybe he really wants to play with Stevie and Cat and is tanking workouts so he falls to the Rockets. Wouldn't that be awesome? Francis, Cuttino, JJ, C-Webb?!?

    A couple of things ....

    1. Have you ever gone to three or four consecutive job interviews and by the second one you have already decided ... man, that's where I want to work" ? Now when all those other interviewers ask you some of those open-ended questions like: " So what is it about (your occupation) that really defines you as a person?" or they ask, "Do you think having a well grounded Christian foundation helps you at your job?" If you have already found the job you want, are you more inclined to fake it out by answering something like : "Well, yeah, like it's really, like really (expletive) cool to be (fexpletive)ing with all you cats, man. Crazy!" ???? Huh? Do you????

    2. Okay real hard question here. Cleveland or Houston? Huh? Yeah right, thought so!

Clutch's post (which I assumed was read and OK'd by Doc Rocket) used the quote "UNREAL" to describe JJ's workout.

btw: I am curious if any recent player has admitted to tanking after they were drafted to avoid the Clippers or something. Maybe Odom tried it but did not succeed.

also, the difference in pay between the #8 and #13 is $1.4 Million over 3 yrs....would you tank a job interview for that kind of dough.

Heypartner, I know it is hard to believe, but some people value geography, management quality, and job opportunities over cash.

For someone who considers the above matters over cash, taking less to get more is a no brainer. Sometimes it is not all about the Benjamins.

It is easy to see why some folks would look at the 45 win Rockets, their organization, and their young core, and say "this is the team for me." And that is especially true if the position they play just happens to be wide open for the taking.

Money aside, who would you choose to play for out of the lottery teams if you were coming out?

Johnson would be getting a truck load of money regardless of where he's picked. Houston suits his style of play, and is probably more similar to Arkansas than any other place.

Bah, you're right Achebe [IMG]. He's probably the small forward I covet the most in this draft.

I thought Clutch's UNREAL comment was regarding Vlad Rad's workout?

That's correct. "Unreal" was the word used to describe to me Radmanovic's workout (<a href="http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum3/HTML/013233.html">thread</a>). However Joe Johnson had a terrific workout as well.

Wouldn't this be a dream come true. From ESPN insider:

    8. Cleveland Cavaliers

Likely picks: Rodney White, Tyson Chandler, Pau Gasol

Conventional wisdom has Arkansas' Joe Johnson falling to the Cavs here. The Cavs are in desperate need of athleticism in the backcourt and Johnson seems to have the right combination of height, athleticism and shooting ability. However, sources have told us that Johnson has been tanking workouts and is falling in the draft.

It would be great to draft JJ. We could even package him w/ a pick for Griffen. I got a feeling we'll draft Woods at 18, then have him on Andro all summer. When the season starts, he'll have a David Robinson physique.
    Just a feeling [IMG]
