Wrong forum. This belongs in the Texans/Astros/Dynamo and Horse Racing forum. We could use another Wide out. or debate discussion forum that has been beaten to death.
lol didn't the BBS triple crown used to be: 1) have a stickied post 2) be quoted in somebody's signature 3) ...?
I don't know if I ever asked you moes but how do you feel about the Raiders off-season moves such as drafting McFadden, the huge deals they gave to Walker and Hall, the reports about Russell off-season weight troubles. What do you think?
McFadden is a weapon you can't afford to pass up, he's going to be a vital part of the offense. I have no problem with drafting him. Few people really noticed that Justin Fargas became a damn good RB last year as he rushed for 1000 yards in only 9 official starts. Fargas will get carries to see if he's durable, if he can't handle the load McFadden will step in and probably never look back. If he excels, then McFadden will be basically the USC Reggie Bush type player in the Lane Kiffin offense. The Raiders will have to rely on the running game because they have an inexperienced young QB and a line that is a lot better suited for run blocking than pass protection. Hall is a nice corner to pair up along side Asomugha, I don't have a problem with us giving up a 2nd rounder for him as long as he at doesn't get burned up and down the field. Fabian Washington didn't pan out and Stanford Routt is better suited as a Nickelback. Javon may have been the big mistake out of the FA signing, I seriously doubt he'll come close to earning that paycheck just by the way things have started out so far, but we'll see... he still has time to get his **** together. The reports about Russell's weight were false, he showed up to OTAs at 269 (just a little over his playing weight of 265 ) and he's been working very hard to grasp the offense. He's definitely got the strongest arm the NFL has seen since Jeff George, so his development is going to be critical to see if he will excel at the next level. One thing is for sure, the kid is friggin huge and can flat out throw a football.
3) Have your nickname in a thread name. moes, without checking out the records I just thought about it... how long has it been since a winning season... the Super Bowl year? Rich The Cannon Gannon Days? It was that the Texans ALWAYS played the Raiders... but then we got a little better... I think...
Yeah since the Chucky's Revenge we haven't had a season with more than 5 wins. Its been a bit frustrating.
I remember BILLY JOE TOLLIVER, some red-headed kid from a Texas team, had the longest toss in a Quarterbacks' competition. I think that at the time he was playing for the Falcons or the Raiders... I forgot... but... Jeff George? Anyway, I think Russell will be the next Steve McNair... will take the black and silver far but no cigar... he needs a good line.
I'd agree and suggest having a "ClutchFans Classic Quote" for #3. Of course, that would make me 2/3, which is pretty cool.
Tolliver played for the Saints and Falcons I believe. There was another Billy Joe who played QB for the Raiders, Billy Joe Hobert I think his name was. But he was a backup. I don't know how I remember this stuff I was like 8 years old back then. All I know is Jeff George had the most ridiculous arm you could ever imagine. He was just a douchebag for the most part and if he would have had half a brain he would have been as good as Marino/Elway.
^ Yeap, I remember the "CO-DY, CO-DY, CO-DY" chants from people in the stands... and then I also remember the "BU-CKY, BU-CKY" chants for Richardson... anyway, none of them did as well as Moon before them. Well, the Billy Joe I was talkin' about was a huge kid... he threw a long pass which I believe was a record in the Quarterback Challenge... but I didn't know Jeff George was that strong. Didn't he have sideline fights with Jim "Playoffs?" Mora? I like how WIKIPEDIA already has a disambiguation on Joe Horn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Horn
