He was bad in game 7 because the Rangers specifically worked on the high 4 seamer and targeted it. He had no chance or answer to counter
From what I heard, Pena was for sure in his head when it came to the plate. He had some obligations that were postponed by his agent because he was trying so hard to tinker with his swing. His agent believes it was all mental. We shall see…
I do wonder how that first inning would have flipped if we caught at least one runner on the basepaths...
I moved from indifferent to hopeful to a fan after I heard his daughters. Sometimes it's more than the game.
I feel we are the favorite for a few reasons 1. While we very likely aren't "adding" major talent, the upgrade from Maldonado to Diaz will likely be as big of an upgrade as any team in our division will make this offseason 2. I felt going into last year that it was going to be a bit of a struggle year for Javier. The big innings jump he had from 21-22 on top of the long World Series run and then the WBC, it was the perfect recipe for him to struggle. Of course since he wasn't dominant some want him moved back to the pen and stuff like that. Personally, with a full offseason and he can come back rested and strong, I think the dude is going to give us an Ace level performance (outside of not regularly going deep in games) 3. While we never know how health will turn out, the fact that we missed Altuve and Yordan, basically our best two hitters, for so much of last season, chances are we are better just because of them playing more. And if we get anything from LMJ or Garcia, that's just another bonus 4. Hunter Brown holds front end rotation potential, and we saw that for a while last year before he fell off. Will he realize that potential this year? Don't know, but it is likely that he is better as an overall asset next year. We need to make a couple of moves and it isn't likely those moves will involve spending a lot of money, but if we can find the right pen piece and backup catcher, the Rangers can strain their necks looking up at us in the standings
I don't think is evidence one way or another how the Astros perform when the other team is favored. The last time the Astros weren't favored to win the division or a postseason series* is versus Minnesota in 2020. *prior to season or series.
Hadnt had a chance to post on this thread, but man...super happy for Espada. Very well deserved, and allows for some continuity within our organization
It sure will and maybe just maybe we can get most of the fans that threaten to jump at every decision to step away from the daily cliff a little more often.
Maybe, but message board fans don't affect the performance of the team one way or the other. That's just fans venting.
