...how's all this for a curveball, people? On 5 February 2003, Secretary of State Colin Powell appeared before the UN to present evidence that Iraq was hiding unconventional weapons. However, despite warnings from the German Federal Intelligence Service and the British Secret Intelligence Service that the source was untrustworthy, Powell's presentation included information based on the claims of Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, codenamed "Curveball", an Iraqi emigrant living in Germany who also later admitted that his claims had been false. ----From Wikipedia.org ...an oldie, but still a goodie...

The federal government plans to fix that by crisscrossing the reservation with fiber-optic cable—at an average cost of $53,000 for each household and workplace connected. That amount exceeds the assessed value of some of the homes getting hookups, property records show. While most connections will cost far less, the expense to reach some remote communities has triggered concerns over the ultimate price tag for ensuring every rural home, business, school and workplace in America has the same internet that city dwellers enjoy. “The problem is, money is not infinite,” said Blair Levin, a senior communications policy official in the Clinton and Obama administrations who is now an equity research analyst. “If you’re spending $50,000 to connect a very remote location, you have to ask yourself, would we be better off spending that same amount of money to connect [more] families?” The U.S. has committed more than $60 billion for what the Biden administration calls the “Internet for All” program, the latest in a series of sometimes troubled efforts to bring high-speed internet to rural areas. Providing fiber-optic cable is the industry standard, but alternative options such as satellite service are cheaper, if less reliable. Congress has left it up to state and federal officials implementing the program to decide how much is too much in hard-to-reach areas. In Montana, laying fiber-optic cable to some remote locations could cost more than $300,000 per connection, said Misty Ann Giles, director of Montana’s Department of Administration. Building to those places would empty the state’s coffers, she said: “That’s when we might not reach everyone.” more at the link
All biden is doing is creating a new generation of QNON rioters. Giving rural internet to the deepest red areas will do nothing but backfire on the administration. Republicans will never credit biden anyways as they worship trump. Throw them to the wolves
Elon the same right wing nut job who helped MBS execute someone over the week? You trust this guy with more power? https://cybernews.com/news/saudi-arabia-death-penalty-x-elon-musk/
What did he do to help execute someone? I read the linked article, and it seems like all Musk did was allow the guy to post anti-regime tweets.
So essentially the article points out that some locations will have a real high price tag due to the complexities of the projects (terrain, going under rivers, etc) while others will be much cheaper. I mean, sounds about right, not every project has the same price tag. It really is much harder to get contractors to bid out projects that are more remote, it really has to be worthwhile and they will typically bid it much higher. It just comes with the territory. I think it's great that we are going to be installing this infrastructure all over the nation, despite the high costs in some locations.
You think it's a great idea we're giving a tens of millions of hard-core MAGA folks high speed internet? Good for you being a good person cuz I sure as hell wouldn't
