I know there have been many threads in the past but I wanted to re visit it. My fiance recently graduated with her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and is having a difficult time finding a job. I know there are many people her that have been in this same situation and I was wondering if anyone had some advise that that might be able to help her (us) out. She has been looking at some of the hospitals because I work at MD Anderson and have a few connection however there isn't much for a BA right now. So does anyone have any tips as where to look or a good place to start? Thanks!
Placement agency. A lot of businesses hire directly through agencies such as Primary Services. Getting a job is all about who you know. If she doesn't know anyone in the industry through internships or the like, she should really go through an agency.
Unless she has a decent number of accounting hours or programming skills she should probably broaden her scope beyond whatever her major was, and if her GPA is anything less than 3.0-3.5 she needs to look at either admin or retail management work. (For her to have not had any on campus interviews makes me wonder what her whole situation is). Just about any corporate energy job that doesn't have engineering or marketing/trading in the description or requirements is filled with people who either have non-descript business degrees or no degrees at all.
Her GPA was mid 3's, she graduated from UH-Downtown they didn't do many on campus interviews. She is currently in retail management and it really not where she wants to be due to the irregular hours.
She could try a staffing agency. My gf has moved up to some tech position in Repsol company. Btw what do you do at md anderson?
Yeah I think that's the route she might have to take.. I work in Materials Management, we handle everything from medicine and general medical products all the way to lab animals. When I complete my degree I will be moving into purchasing services.
