I'm 16, and going into my Junior year at Dulles(Sugar Land/Houston). I'm in Marketing Co-Op, so I get out a couple hours early and leave school at around 12:40 and can work starting at 1:00. The problem is I just can't find a job; anyone have any ideas where I could work. I've tried Hollywood/Gamecrazy and Blockbuster, but they are 18 or older. Target is 17, Borders, is 18, and likely Barnes&Noble too. I've tried going to RadioShack and AMC, they said to apply online, which I did and still haven't gotten a response too yet. I wouldn't mind working at Pizza Hut or fast food, but I want that to be my last resort. Anyone here have any experience with Co-Op, or just jobs at 16? Any ideas.
Don't give in to fast food. Just don't do it. Hold out for a decent opportunity. Go door to door in a mall.
School doesn't allow it . As for Supermarkets, I've tried, but they aren't currently hiring. Furniture delivery wouldn't work anyway, I have to "Directly Interact" with customers.
When I was 16 and a student at Dulles, I worked at Kroger's on 6 and Murphy and then I switched to Hollywood Video a couple months later. I knew a few kids in school who worked at Smoothie King. My sister says that a lot of people from Dulles are working at CCR (consumer research or something).
Jobs I held in high school (I went to Clements, class of 04): • Chuck E Cheese's on 59 next to Benz dealership • Michael's Arts and Crafts on 59/William's Trace • Washington Mutual on Hwy 6/Bissonett Sugar Land has all types of new crap opening left and right (esp. near Town Center), so I suggest you be more aggressive and go around and see if they have any openings at these new places. It shouldn't be that hard.. I'm sure these companies are looking for cheap 16 year old labor they can pay minimum wage to. For Chuck E Cheese's and Michael's (even though both were crap jobs, you gotta start somewhere), I went and found these on my own when I was 15-17. When I joined the Clements Co-op program my senior year in high school, the directors Mr. Kaser and Mrs. Metke actually hooked me up with an interview at Washington Mutual and I got the job. I don't know how good the Dulles program is, but if they are any good at all, they should have a list of potential employers they can set you up with... you just have to go ask.
I started off at JC Penney when I got into Marketing Co-Op my junior year like 2 yrs ago. Actually Im still with them they're real big on hiring DECA students so try that. But be warned that working retail is not for the faint of heart, its real brutal and a lot of work. Try applying at banks, most businesses should recognize DECA (if your enrolled in that aswell) and thats a plus for employers.
Pimpin? That is for grown ups, requires a degree. You know you can get 50 bucks just for sucking a d!ck? Thats like two minutes work, bro!
