Man i worked all summer to save up for this semester, and quit my job at Red Robin, because i was sick of waiting tables, and i wanted to put all my attention on school.. well now i'm in need of a cash flow again, and want an easy solid paying job, that won't make me feel like i'm a worthless bum for example a subway sandwich engineer.. any ideas of easy, yet interesting jobs?.. again i'm not needing to make tons of money, i already paid of my semester of school.. just money for gas, leisure, food and etc.
Good luck... easy, solid-paying jobs are extremely difficult to come by in a good economy, let alone when the unemployment rate is north of 8% in Texas. I was a bartender for a number of years and I enjoyed it. Best paying job I ever had, in relation to the amount of work I had to do, was as the daytime bartender at the Buffalo Wild Wings in the Woodlands. Lots of regulars, but not a lot of customers overall. I took home between $85 - $100 / day, 5 days a week and worked from 10 - 4. Worked the same shift at the Rice Village location and made about half of that.
Go to your college's Career Center website, post your resume, and then login and search every single day. Also, join the student group for your major and hit all the career fairs.
I take it you have already looked at the job postings at your university career services office... edit: Dang, beat me to it.
Holy crap... Please tell me where you go to school so I can razz the people that work at your Career Services for the bang up advertising job they are doing.
Got the perfect job for you. You can call and see if the rockets ticketing department has an opening. You can work during games. After your shift, you can watch the game live or whatever event they have at ToyCen. Sometimes if your there early enough you could watch the players warm up and perhaps you can be one of our resident insiders. I actually used to do this back when the Rox won it all and its the coolest job Ive had.
might be a little late for this, since school has started...but when i was in college i use to work with kids doing after school sports programs...one place paid 15 an hour, but then i worked for another that paid 20. They give you roughly 10-12 hours a week (~ 2.5 a day M-F)...i thought it was perfect, not many hours, but more than enough cash for the things you mentioned. I found the listings on craigslist...sometimes they still need people a month or two into school, but usually hire in september...they sometimes have other openings for other subjects.
I agree that the school route is probably a good one. I heard of a few co-workers' kids getting jobs through their University Job Bulletin Boards. Lots of folks l trust the colleges and students to connect them to good workers. Plus, you may find something to start in the field you're interested in. Good Luck.

Might not pay much, but it will make you feel like you're living with more purpose immediately. Work at a before-and-after school program. Shifts are usually from 6-9 in the morning and then you have a break. You return to work from 3-6 p.m. You could get another part-time job during the break if you needed to. It may "read" funny to you, but working with kids isn't really working. You're getting paid to make a difference, play a few games, read some stories and show a smile on your face. Consider it...
If you're any smart, tutoring. It's perfect for while you're at school because you can make tons of money with small hours. When I was in college, I tutored 4-6 hours a week and charged 30-35 bucks an hour. It helps being Asian and having an Asian mother with Asian friends who have Asian teenagers
I read an article saying that the crack-w**** industry is booming right now. It's probably not too late to register for the fall internship program.
Ricky Bobby: I've sent in my application to the Real World. So I'm hoping to hear back from that. I'm putting A LOT of my eggs into that basket, the MTV basket. I'm also thinking about getting a gun, and dealing crack. Being a crack dealer. Not like a mean crack dealer, but like... like a nice one. Kinda friendly like, "hey, what's up guys? Want some crack?" I'm just waiting on those two things to flesh themselves out.
