I just want to say this because his continual amazing play is really getting overshadowed by our pitiful QB. How he can continue to be a monster with minimal pass rushing help is mind-blowing.
Watt has been great, I think he does more for his defense than any other single defender in the NFL. Some of that hasn't translated into stats. He needs to start racking up more sacks though if he wants to win DPOY. Houston and Alonso seem to be the frontrunners right now for DPOY.
FAIL. Shoul be titled "JJ Watt Appreciation thread", but there's already one. You could have posted your OP there. [thread=225992][/thread] I home the entire team gets better, too.
I agree. Also lost in all this Schaub doom and gloom was Mercilus' potential coming out party against Seattle. The guy had 2.5 sacks.
I just personally find that Appreciation threads should kind of be reserved for a player that's leaving.
I think cushing has had every impact that watt has had. Cush gets overlooked all the time. I don't know what else you can do in is league as an inside or middle linebacker. I realize Patrick Willis is considered the best but I don't see him doing anything Cush doesn't do
Ted Johnson has been saying JJ doesn't cover his gap responsibilities a lot of times so other players around him have to cover those gaps and maybe thats why the sack disparity in the front line. Don't know if JJ does this on his own or the coaches give him free rein to do whatever. Something to chew on from a former player.
Incorrectly so, sir. Should you NOT appreciate (much less create threads "in appreciation of") a player WHILE he is still with the team? HUhhhhh?
Should have said the Defense is REALLY good because while they aren't balling in anyone individual stat they have been extremely beneficial and Watt along withe Mercilus are leading the team in sacks. By the by, props to Whitney Mercilus for getting more sacks in 4 games then last year's previous starters did in 16, along with getting more then half of previous season's total. Throw out love for undrafted FA rookie Justin Tuggle, one special teams tackle and the three he got in the Seattle loss puts him with 4 tackles. Heck, it puts him equal or above the like more regular rotation guys like Jared Crick and Brice McCain in terms of production. Hopefully, this will convince the coaches to give him some more defensive snaps.
Watt has had almost as much impact this year as he had last season, it's just not showing in the numbers. Clearly Cushing has been awesome, but Watt has been the most valuable.
