I mentioned this in the other thread. 790 got it first. Anyway, Palilo said that New Orleans won't hold up the deal. The trade has been finalized.
http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/apps/...9/APS/412291004&cachetime=3&template=dateline Jim Jackson, acquired by the New Orleans Hornets in a trade announced Monday, has been suspended indefinitely for failing to report to the team. Jackson, who plays guard and forward, was acquired by the Hornets (2-25) along with forward Bostjan Nachbar from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard David Wesley. The trade will not be affected by Jackson's suspension, the team said Wednesday in a news release. Nachbar was available for the Hornets' home game Wednesday night against Phoenix. Jackson has spent time with Dallas, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Golden State, Portland, Atlanta, Cleveland, Miami and Sacramento in addition to Houston (where he signed as a free agent prior to the 2003-04 season). He had averaged 13.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in 24 games with the Rockets this season.
I didn't see the original thread. Thanks for the info. I flip back and forth between the two stations so 790 must reported it just before 610.
JJ, I love ya, but you're certainly not helping youself in any way by pulling this. You've been around the block enough times to know that trades are part of losing basketball teams. Heck, even winning ones.
The business of NBA is bruttal my brother. In a perfect world, we would keep all our "heros" and beloved players forever. The Hornets though is a bad team to be traded to but something had to be done and only them were will I believe. Life goes on. I feel for JJ but he is a pro and I hope he calms down soon hence move on with his career. But I suspect he will retire though.
I feel bad for JJ too, but I agree with you. Why would he jeopardize his reputation as a person and his integrity as a player to make a point to a team that he only played with for one year? I think you have to suck it up finish strong this year and hope you can make an impact where you are.
I'm sure the Hornets could care less whether he reports. This trade is all about clearing Wesley's salary off the books.
Wesley's contract was not that big of a problem. He is guaranteed 4.95 Mil next year, but JJ is owed 2.75. Not that big of a difference.
So Boki gets even MORE PT...gonna be breaking out a big ole can of "I told ya so" on Boki...watch and see. DD
sigh. NBA is ... what can I say? JJ is a good guy, and I certainly understand how he feels. It sucks to be in his shoes.
Maybe so, but I was responding to a comment that it was a salary dump. I think Shinn was thinking one proven NBA veteran and possible future stud for an over the hill below average point guard... not a bad trade for him.
I hope N.O. just lets him sit he will not get payed for this. If i was N.O. i would not cut him cause then he will sign where he wants to. I like JJ but this is a dumb thing to do.
