You know what I really hate about the mgt decisions of Jimy Williams - pulls pitchers too early. Villone had retired 12 batters in a row; that's 4 innings. So Jimy goes to the reliable bull pen. Just happens to be tonight- not so reliable. Lidge and Dotel suffer from walks and Wagner serves up 2 dingers. The set up men definitely don't hold their share tonight by giving up the tying run. Now, why do I ask, take Villone out? Jimy has done it all year, take the guy out who is pitching well b/c in his brain he thinks 7th inning - time for bull pen.
Stats on Brad Lidge since the All-Star break: 29.1 IP 19ER 16BB 33K 5.83 ERA Why do we continue to act like he is on par with Dotel and Wagner. Yes, he was outstanding before the All-Star break, but he has been below average since. Taking Villone out, who had retired 12 in a row and only thrown 88 pitches for a below average setup man was stupid. Jimy needs to realize that EVERY single reliever on our team has a better ERA in the 2nd half except for Bullinger, who doesn't really count.
The thing that bothers me the most is that the starting pitchers confidence has to be shot. They know that after the 5th inning if they walk one guy, or give up one knock, they are out of the game. At about the 5th inning it looks like the starters are walking on eggshells. Jimy Williams did not get it done in Boston, and he certainly won't get it done here. Dierker was better. DD
And you were the one b****ing when he left Robertson in the game the other day. Also, Jimy did win a playoff series in Boston. That's a little more than you can say about Dierker.
