    I doubt he'll be that dispointed about all the times being optioned back to AAA, sitting on the bench, and years of waiting for a starting position to emerge. That # must have some fond memories. :D

    i remember hearing they said lane could continue to wear it.

    Yea, I read that Lane was told he could keep the number.

    Yeah, since he was wearing it at the time of the retirement he can continue to wear it, but no one else will. This is the norm with these things.

    The Toy Cannon was my favorite Astro as a youngster. I still remember listening to Lowell Pass (sp?) calling those games on the radio like it was yesterday.

    Props to Wynn for the long over-due acclaim.

    Do you also remember Gene Elston? Gene was top notch. I believe it is a travesty that he has not received the Ford Frick award.
