I'm burnt out, i can't believe lopez stays on the air. he's so annoying. he's such a company guy, coaches are right, players should just play, yada yada yada. he lost all credibility with me when he said yao could have won the 94' in place of Hakeem. dudes an idiot
There's nothing more annoying on the planet than Monsters. Nothing. Not a sunburn....not needles in my eyes....not even the obsession with reality television. At the very least Rome has compelling guests. Berkman gets on there and tells his funny stories. Sports' biggest names hit that show. Monsters is just awful. In more ways than can be described. That they pretend to be hip while being utterly clueless is just beyond any words I could use to describe it. In summary, Monsters is awful. Few things are more awful. I suppose genocide is worse. But most white collar crime isn't as bad. Nor petty theft. I'd rather Lopez steal $10 from my wallet everyday.
97.5 FM. both Tirico and Scott Van Pelt are very knowledgable on all sports. You never get to see that because none of them really get to state their opinions during their on tv jobs.
I'm guessing you dont get to hear the abomination that is Monsters much up in Arkansas. Thank your lucky stars. Thank the God you're not quite sure about. Monsters is proof of the existence of evil in this world. It's almost quantifiable proof that Lucifer is patrolling the planet bringing ill-will to its citizens.
I take it all back. After thinking it over further, I realized just how much I loathe the MofM and realized that while Jim Rome is awful, he does in fact get good guests on his program. The Monsters however, are brutal. Their little "in the 2" stuff is awful and their thing at the end of each hour where a bunch of morons call in and say stupid things and they all go "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH" like they are still 11 is even worse. John Lopez though is a great person to listen to. He is a testament to Houston's sports coverage. He was employed by both the Chronicle and now a major sports radio station. I think that says a LOT about Houston's sports media.
A bit off-topic, but Rome's clones hurt his show for me. I can actually listen to Rome himself, though. John Lopez makes 790 unlistenable personally.
All I have to say is that The Monsters had an interview with a writer from hoopsworld the other day. To make it worse, they were just eating up everything he said like he was a legit insider. That shows you their credibility. Cannot stand them! *The only reason I know about that interview is because I switched over while 610 was at commercial break, and then their idiocy made it too funny to switch back right away.
Never heard it actually but it seems that some people disdain both. I guess I'll consider myself lucky.
I listened briefly to the monsters of miday once. I was embarassed for them, it was truly terrible. That was quite a while ago, how is it still on? That show makes austin sports radio look awesome
Dude, Lopez is a Spurs fan. He's not remotely objective about the Rockets. Not even a little bit. He knows even less about baseball. He wrote his "Drayton is a racist because he doesn't like Hispanics" column years ago...and it's quite clear he still believes it. Nothing the Astros do is measured as success to him. Nothing. The franchise can do nothing right by him. He's not remotely close to objective. Everytime he speaks about baseball it's an indicator he knows very little about it. Very little about the game, itself. I'm not sure I've been entirely clear about this. Are you aware that Dante wrote about the Monsters show in Inferno? Are you aware that Stalin is an advertiser to the show?
