Ok I occasionally have to go on a Jim Rome rant and its time for one now. I personally can not stand this guy and 610 decides to air his show for a good chunk of the middle of the day. I usually listen because he does get good interviews. But this guy has to be the biggest egomaniac I've ever seen with the least reason. I mean he is a radio host, and he acts like God's gift to mankind. His sense of humor is painful, there is no consistency in which people he 'racks' and which ones he trashes. He thinks his smackoff is the greatest thing ever...if you are a radio host and your self-proclaimed most important show of the year consists of a bunch of OTHER, non-radio personalities, trash talking and making fun of one another which has absolutely nothing to do with you...what does that say about you. He has this attitude that his opinion is the only one that matters, and when he plays the same clip or says the same punch line like 19 times in a row i want to smash my computer. His dead air, random conversations with producers and such that we can't hear or see what he is talking about, and cute little slang he has created (the jungle, rack 'em, war) I mean wtf does this guy thinks he is... ok i feel a little better now.
Don't be jealous because Rome got where he is. I like listening in. His interviews are good. Don't really care about all the clones and such. Less of you and more of me is a good thing.
the adult alarm was pretty funny. "maaaaaakuuulllyyy". yea. The first 1000 times. I also like how Rome always brags about "the jungle karma" and how he says "show me one time when the karma didn't work.....one time. the karma ALWAYS works" 2005. 2 days before the World Series. Phil Garner. Jungle Karma Fail.
I used to listen to Jim Rome all the time in the late 90's - early 00's. I only listen to it occasionally, and at times I have to turn off the radio when he goes crazy with the soundbites. I think his show is still good but clearly not as good as it used to be.
I like the fact that you hate his show, yet you listen to it ONLINE. It's one thing to have to listen to something carpooling to work. It's an entirely different thing to actively go to the site and listen.
Jim Rome was great in the nineties and early in the decade. Like a lot of things, his show got to big. Can't believe he's been around so long. I wonder if 610 dropped him would 1560 or 790 pick him up.
I know I know if I hate why do I listen. If I like the interviews he is going to have ill wait through the part where he talks...and yes i listen to 610 online and dont bother bringing up another one of the stations. with all that said...i still hate him
Rome does good interviews? the next time he asks his guest a tough question will be the first time. he'll criticize and mock his interviewee's when they're not in studio, but as soon as they come on his show he kisses more ass than a 1000 wrong Charles Barkleys.
During that time, switch to 1560. At least you continue hearing about the Rockets/Texans/'Stros after Clanton. I hate Rome.
He can be entertaining if you don't take him too seriously, and I like his interviews. Sometimes it is unbearable though when he gets too deep into his tangents or plays the same sound clip over and over (especially when its something you'd have to have been listening to the whole show to understand). I bet Rome was the last one picked for sports growing up. Dude just seems like he might've been bullied and not so great at sports, so that's why he has the attitude he does today.
He asks good questions. He might not ask tough questions that would spark heated responses, but its a hell of a lot better than the fluff you get from local interviews or TV interviews.
90% of the time Rome is annoying... 10% of the time Rome is entertaining... 0% of the time Dan Patrick is on the radio from 11am-2pm as an alternative
I've never heard his radio show, but every once and a while I try to watch his tv program waiting for Around the Horn to come on. I usually last 1/3 into his first segment before I reach for the remote. I guess I don't like his format of him simply b****ing to the camera (i.e. himself) about his opinions. Maybe I'd like him more on a ATH/PTI esque show. As is, he seems to be all about himself too much, and the whole reason I'd tune in is for sports analysis, not for a self-absorbed windbag trying to validate his existence on TV.
