Any Jim Rhome(sp?) fans out there? If there are, please explain to me what's the BIG deal?! I try listening to the man but I can only take about 15-30 minutes or so before I have to turn off the radio. He's just so damned irritating that it makes me want to smash my radio. I just don't get him. Is he: 1) someone who's trying to be hip but knows that he's not, 2) someone who is hip and knows that he is, 3) someone who is not hip but thinks that he is, or what................Him trying to be so "hip-hop" is just sooo fake azz! Is that it then? Is that what makes Rhome, Rhome? Clones, please speak up!
Its Jim Rome. Anyways, I used to feel exactly the same way you do. I hated the guy. Now I like to listen to him. Just don't take him seriously. His sports takes are okay, but its his non-sports skits that are funny as hell. You want irritating? Try listening to the Dan Patrick show. I swear I feel like swirving my car into on-coming traffic every time I listen to his show (which is never). There are no faker people in the world then the people who do that r****ded ass show. They spent 99.99% of the time giggling like little b****es at each others r****ded ass jokes.
I'll take DP's giggling over JR's "ahhhhh..." and irritating pregnant pauses anyday. Patrick I can tolerate, Rome makes me want to drive a nail through my eye.
You should hear the great Phil Hendrie do his Jim Rome spoof. It's amazing. Complete with the pregnant pauses, stupid callers, and annoying catch phrases. Go to Kaaza and type in 'Hendrie' and 'Rome'. You won't regret it.
That clip is classic. I used to listen to Rome everyday, but he's *SO* full of himself. I just can't stand him anymore. Too irritating. But lots of people really like him, so rock on.
I never understood the buzz on Rome anyhow. And the Dan Patrick show, that is probably the worst sports radio show on the air. It comes on at my station before my show and I guess I have to make my show really good to make up for what proceeds it!
Come on...the guy is an artist...he says the phrase "that was great" better than anyone in the entire world.
Why the hell is Dan Patrick on the air? I hate that show with a passion. They try to take every little issue and make it into a huge crisis. I like Jim Rome, he doesn't take himself seriously, and he's pretty funny.
I love Dan Patrick. The other day he had nothing but good things to say about the Astros. He wants them in the playoffs. For that reason i like him.
