I think he's still got game and he still seems to have a nice shot. The Kings aren't offering him a new contract. I think maybe he will play for the minimum. I think he would be a nice addition. Your thoughts?

Actually, I think its the opposite. JJ had a solid year last year and is a pretty nice player. IMO, his demand's have probably been too high and that is why he remains unsigned.

If he was willing to sign for the minimum, he would probably be locked up by now.

I really doubt he is that much of a cancer. He didn't seem to be a cancer of any sort the last couple of years. I think that goes back to the days of the 3 J's.

    Codwell hit the mark....

He is asking for too much money, more than some teams are willing to pay him. If he would settle for the mid, he'd be signed by now. I don't think he would be a cancer at all. JJ would be a solid contributor from the bench and maybe start a little at the 3 for us (If we sign him) Don't get me wrong though.....We don't really need him.

IMO, JJ is looking for more $ than the 1/2 MLE the Rox have left. And if his market value actually approaches $2.5m, the Kings will offer him slightly more than Houston since they have his Bird Rights. No way the Kings let JJ walk for $2.5m.

Correction - SAC does not have JJ's Bird Rights but they have more MLE $ left than Houston.

Maybe you forget he has been tagged "uncoachable". He had that reputation in more than one place where they were happy to see him go. Dallas,NJ, PHI,GSW,POR,ATL,CLE,MIA, then a rebab your rep stint with SAC. Never played defense but can score at the expense of his teammates. Takes very very bad shots, bringing overall fg% way down. You want Yao watching JJ hoist it? We already have one of those guys.

JJ would be a great pickup for the rockets. And if he's taking bad shots, he sure as hell is making a lot of them. He shot 44% from the field and 45 % from the 3 point land last year. Also added 4 boards per game playing about 20 minutes per night. If he's good enough to get 20 minutes on the Kings. It's obvious to me at least that he would be the Rocket's starter at the 3 if he were to sign here. However, I also believe someone would have already signed him if he was willing to play for the minimum again. We also probably need a backup PG more than anything at this point. I really don't think the kid from Rice is going to cut it.

JJ's still got plenty of game, but I don't think it fits in here. I'm not worried about the cancer tag as much as the lack of D, which is what we should be concentrating on this offseason.

Jim Jackson would be a good pickup. If he was able to take Hedo's minutes away then he's definitely still got some game left. He probably uprooted his minutes because he plays better defense than Hedo but I don't think we need him since we already picked up Adrian and Piatkowski. We should be looking more towards a PF or PG for sure.

The need for improvement at the 1 and 4 are obvious but if the Rockets get a chance to pick up Jim Jackson they should do it. His performance in the playoffs was very impressive.GATER thanks for pointing out that the Kings have more money than us.
