Jim Jackson... http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/0121sunstradeonline0122.html going to phoenix
ESPN.com link By Marc Stein ESPN.com The Phoenix Suns are closing in on the acquisition of disgruntled New Orleans swingman Jim Jackson, league sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein. The trade for Jackson, expected to be finalized later Friday, would likely send three Suns reserves -- Casey Jacobsen, Maciej Lampe and Jackson Vroman -- to the Hornets. Jackson has has refused to report to New Orleans since he was traded by Houston for David Wesley just after Christmas. The move has multiple benefits for Phoenix, which started the season 31-4 in spite of its serious depth shortage. Jackson, 34, would immediately give the Suns a veteran scoring option off the bench and also give coach Mike D'Antoni a ready-made replacement for Joe Johnson if the Suns can convince Philadelphia to part with center Samuel Dalembert in a swap for Johnson. New Orleans, meanwhile, jumped at the opportunity to acquire three young players for Jackson, who made it clear that he was prepared to forfeit his salary (roughly $27,500 per game) for the rest of the season before he'd ever play a game for the Hornets.
yeah he was, but I guess he will get more pt in NO and we will see what he really is....kinda like nachbar's situation
Dalembert's potential is as intriguing to me as anyone, but essentially Phoenix is willing to give up a younger, more athletic version of Jimmy in Joe Johnson (whose stats this year are great, but they were pretty decent last year too), and a average at best back-up spot up shooter for Jim Jackson and and potential (again, Dalembert seems like he could be great, but so far this year could be doesn't mean is). Seems like a neutral deal for Phoenix - get some veteran help and leadership, lose a pretty good young talent. New Orleans clearly makes out as they get potential for nothing and Philadelphia would luck out as they would be getting a good, tall (6-7) backcourt running mate for AI for a interior player who they don't seem to want.
but igoudala and johnson would be playing the same position. Igoudala has a lot of upside and by adding a johnson you stunt that growth, unless johnson plays the 1 or 3
I'm one of Jimmy's biggest backers, I think Houston fans really undervauled his defense, but this is the best thing Allan Bristow's ever done. A GREAT trade. Phoenix has no depth, so they pull a 3-for-1 trade? Bryan Colangelo may have just lost that Executive of the Year award.
JJ's problem is about to be 'paid' and he's redundant in Phx who does not want to pay. If it were true, then what becomes of Green?
Jim Jackson on his way to Phoenix I apologize if this has already been posted or posted in the wrong place. But it seem as if Jim Jackson could be on his way to Phoenix. GREAT deal for N.O. if this is true! Could anyone really believe that JJ would be able to net N.O. 3 young prospects? As for Phoenix, odd move. Really makes you wonder about the future of Joe Johnson there.
Can Phoenix get rid of any more depth? Not that these players beyond Jacobsen matter. And if they trade Johnson for Dalembert, they are a) stupid and b) more stupid. There had better be more to that trade than Johnson for Dalembert.
No brainer for the Hornets. Nice veteran leadership for the Suns as well. Watching the group of young players play without Nash is just sad.
Good for JJ, I wish him the best. I will try to go to the next game we play against the Suns just to give him a standing ovation.
bad move for Phoenix if they do it. JJ is on his way down and Casey Jacobson is the perfect fit for that team.
The New Orleans GM must have blackmail pictures on several other NBA GMs. David Wesley for Jacobsen, Lampe, Vroman and Nachbar.
