I know everyone is getting frustrated with the PG search and if we dont find a decent PG could we move JJ to the PG and have him share ball handling responsibilites with Tmac/Lue/Gaines?

I know JJ brought up the ball w/ SF3 at certain times but I trust his decision making. He isnt the best ball handler but makes good decisons and has a good outside shot.

    PG - JJackson / Lue / Gaines
    SG - Tmac / JJackson / Gaines
    SF - Boki / Tmac / JJackson
    PF - JHoward / MoT
    C - Yao / Spoon / JHoward

it is pretty much grooming Boki to become our starting SF of the future while leaving JJ on the floor to provide leadership and decision making. Hopefully Gaines will get more playing at PG and become the backup PG hopeful starting PG of the future.

*looking at this lineup I feel pretty confident we would be able to hold our own and focus our energy on finding a decent backup C.

that would hold us over until we can either groom Gaines/Boki to become legit starters.

Our future lineup may look like.

    PG - Gaines / Lue
    SG - Tmac / JJackson / Pike
    SF - Boki / Tmac / JJackson
    PF - JHoward / MoT / Spoon
    C - Yao / someone else

    what does everysone else think?

    J

i think this was posted a month ago, yes he did in college but he's much older and playing against pro's now. we can't demand anymore from jimmy. now that i think about it though he did adapt into a 3 point shooter and in the playoffs absolutely crashed the boards to pick up Yao's slack. I think finding a Catoesque player shoud be our first priority. our big men are way too soft. Elden Cambell would be perfect but he'd be hard to get

if you know that the rockets are in fact looking to add a starting PG then why suggest that we might have jj run point?

i know people are gettign scared because we havent found a point yet. this is because every FA asked for too much and got it. the market has cooled a little and the past couple of signings (sans fisher) were good deals. i think if we cant find anything in a trade (daniels, jaric, etc) then we jump into FA's like jones and james.

Jackson playing some 'point forward' at times is fine, but not as the PG. I dont like the idea of Jackson playing the PG position and chasing young quick guards all over the court. Talk aboug wearing down Jackson!

Jackson is fine doing some point forward duty at the SF position but at this stage of his career he just cant play the PG spot for the Rockets.

It'll never happen... and I'm not going to waist a thread on it... but wouldn't it be great if Boki could be PG in 2 years ;)?

Can we just start a thread with a sticky that is called "[current rockets non-guard] as PG?"

That way we can have all these ludicrous suggestions in one place, and they can be dismissed in one place; would make things easier.

How about Spoon at point guard.
