And I'm NOT talking about the last play tonight. JJ sure defended it half-heartedly, but just say Mo should have switched... blame the scheme.

I am talking about the two wide-open, unbothered 3 pointers Penny Hardaway took in the 4th quarter today. There was a MINIMUM of penetration and Jackson was completely committed, on the pass he had no chance to make it back.

I am talking about the Lakers series last year. Devean George. Kareem Rush. Raining 3's. Almost entirely on Jim Jackson, who will sag way off his man even on the weak side and consistently gets stuck in no-man's land on penetration. For such a consistent player, it's frustrating to see such consistently BAD habits.

He's older. OK. He's slower. OK. But he shows no perimeter discipline so his man always spots up knowing he'll get an open shot. It's inexcusable.

I see teams substitute players to get their 3 pt shooter matched up with Jackson. I hope Sura is much better. IMO, our most glaring defensive weakness is on the perimeter, JJ and the PG spot being huge liabilities.

I could have told you that last year; he gets torched by opposing SG's when forced to play them.

It's not bad habits, its the fact that he's just not quick enough at his age to play them tight. The loss of Mobley really hurts us in that area. (and for that matter, even Francis given the Lue/ward horrorshow on d)

I definitely hope and I think Sura is better..HOPEFULLY

Yeah Jackson is too slow..it's easy for quicker players to do stuff on him...

Devean George wouldn't be that bad as a Rocket..

That's why I think we should let Nachbar play more adn develop..unless he really sucks and there's no hope. I wish there was a minor league lol. Farming system or whatever.

And maybe Padgetts hould play the 4 when we play smaller lineups..cuz Padgett can shoot..

Jackson missed a lot of open shots btw today.

Hmm..maybe Jackson..he's good..but maybe we need another solid player like him..Eric Williams like

    True, we miss Cat's defense.

Man....only guy who seems to beable to hit the Three ball with consistency is Boki.

So why don't they pass it to him more?

Because he doesn't play the game "the right way".

Actually, because JVG is dumbass and has a hard on for JJ. He just likes slow unathletic veterans.

Well then I don't know why T-Mac isn't guarding the opposing 2 guards. I think he's been pretty solid on defense. He goes for steals a little too much, but overall Mcgrady has been doing a good job on D. JJ had success last year against SFs last year, because even though he's only 6'6", he's strong enough to discourage most post up SFs, and the quickness factor isn't as pronounced by the average SFs in the league.

I've been frustrated with JJ in this one (imo GLARING) aspect of his game since he's been a Rocket. And also frustrated with the people thinking he is as solid a defender as he is an offensive player. It's just not true.

I also don't buy slowness as an excuse. So you're slow. Get smart. Stay with your man. Sit in his lap. Jackson's strong. Hold the guy out there if he tries to cut.

Instead, Jackson runs after the bouncy ball like a 2nd grader at the YMCA.
