anyone keeping up with him? i think he's been improving and recently put up some pretty good numbers. so far against the lakers he has 5 pts 3 boards and 4 assists.

kobe has 4 pts. 4 boards and 4 assists

Net's offense sucked, with jumpers after jumpers. Yi had some good offensive rebounds but he couldn't stop anyone on the defensive end.

Needs a post game. Shoots way too many threes for a guy 7ft tall, wildly inconsistent because he is too reliant on that outside jumper.

Soft and clueless at times, don't hold your breath on him developing a post game.

this is the first net's game i've watched this season. yea, he stands around almost waiting for someone to tell him what to do. the plus side, he can jump and has a pair of nice blocks. he can drive. his biggest problem is not knowing where to be.

with that said, the nets suck. it's 5 guys playing iso. when there is ball movement, it ends in VC driving through 3 lakers. sometimes he'll put it up when there's an open man 3 feet away from him. ???? lopez and harris is good but they have to create their own shots. their system makes me glad the rocket's don't the net's coach.

He's getting better and better since he was traded to New Jersey and he's just streaky sometimes, insight into this game against Lakers, because he's totally at loss as to what he should do most time of the night.

His offense is developing anyway, altho he's still had a long way to go. He didn't have as many opportunities as Kobe did because he's still not a marquee part of Nets in my opinion, and he should be smart on the court and improve his defense.

By the way,His name is Yi Jianlian, Not Jianlian YI :D

Standing around? Lazy offense? No effort to win or at least improve teammates? Sounds like a perfect team for Vince!

Why? Maybe you've been in Africa but Vince is a great, unselfish, hardworking veteran................Leading his crappy team to some wins..........

actually the guy that started the thread is one of the rare posters that got it right. People think Yao is Yao's first name and Ming is his last time.
We are here in America. so its Jianlian Yi .. .first name then last name.. so there is nothing wrong with the way the poster started the thread..

and about Yi... he is totally inconsistent.. has a great game followed by a crappy game... also too soft and not agressive enough. but he's still young..

According to Associated Press style book, Chinese names are written according to the subjects' preference. Since Yi has been called "Yi Jianlian" all his life rather than the other way around, his name should be written that way. Similarly, can anyone stand announcers calling Yao Ming "Ming Yao?"

On a side note, how can you be a Suns fan AND a Rockets fan? Pick your poison man.

i wouldn't say the offense is lazy, harris and lopez were really active. i don't think it's all vince's fault because he played like everyone else on the team. he drove when he had the ball, even when there's someone wide open. it's a problem with coaching or the players aren't listening to Lawrence.

the team's player's isn't that bad. Vince is good, but he's not know for his unselfishness. i don't think there's a lack of trust, he's just too focused on getting to the basket sometime. again, this is based on one game i've watched from the Nets this season.

It is embarrassing for a 6'11" PF to shoot only 13/28 under the basket.

haha well i created this name way back... i am not really a suns fan anymore but still follow them and I like nash as a player..

the story how i became a rockets fan is from Charles Barkley.. he was my favorite player growing up so i became a fan of whatever team he was on.. so he was on the Suns and then the Rockets.. and i have just been a huge rockets fan since..

Ah, similar to how I followed Allen Iverson from Philadelphia to Denver. I still follow Philadelphia somewhat (I am a fan of Iggy), but Denver means nothing to me now.

duh.. as he said and i wrote; his NAME is Jianlian and his last name is Yi.
We aint in China. here in america we refer to each other by first names unless youre in the military.

We don't say Jordan Michael had a great game or McGrady Tracy is injured.
When you go to China they will call you Pawloski or Davis or Brown. and btw IT IS Ming Yao. what does it say on the back of his jersey? Yao.

So, why alienate these foreign players any further?

Just trying to edjumucate the ignant folks.

btw, I'm 2nd generation asian american. and I know for a fact that parents just wanted to fit in as much as possible. why would Jianlian and Ming be any different?

Dude, please watch more Rockets basketball. Scola might not be a lockdown defender or has those fancy blocks which you saw on ESPN but Scola plays excellent team defense and second to Battier last season on total charges drawn. No defense? Please watch more basketball than read the box score!

the term 'all offense no defense' is just a figure of speech. i didnt mean that scola cant defend at all, what i meant was scola is more of an offensive type player whos strength is more on the offensive end, like yi.

Yi wasn't even the 2nd best player on his team at the Olympics.
