I just saw this on the channel 11 news and it kinda offends me. I wanted to see what ya'll think. Apparently there is some Christian group out there who got together and decided the good people of Texas all needed a video of Jesus' life. So they have made 1.1 million copies so far and are currently sending them out to people in Texas. They hope to eventually send out one to every person (all 8.5 million people) in Texas. This makes me mad. How dare someone try to force their religion on me. It doesn't matter what religion. I don't want it shoved down my throat. Who is to say that their religion is so much better than what I believe? Any reactions? ------------------ Poopy!

Unfortunately why do those damn JaHOEvas Witness come wake me up at the unGODly hour of 10a.m. on sunday morning?! Its all within the law and all that bull. Too bad it isn't newspaper cuz you could line your cage for your parakeets. I luv parakeets! ------------------ Whatever you want to do, you have to do something else first.
What are these people thinking when they decide to do this. Don't they realize that I dont care ------------------
Just throw away the video if/when they send you one. I get mail all the time from charitable oganizations as well as visits from Jehova's Witnesses and Mormons. I also get mail from various churches such as Episcopalian and Lutheran. I either read it or toss it. I don't see why it's a big deal. No one is holding a gun to your head to sit and watch the video and they are not usuing your tax dollars to make/mail the video. ------------------
If they send it to you, throw it away. I don't consider it forcing anything down anybody's throat. I'd have been more pro-Ali Cat in this situation if you had said you can't stand junk mail because that's all this is. ------------------ "We need a chicken butt." -- heypartner is moving swiftly to help make the CC.net BBS more efficient and run faster. As others have already said, it's no different than what other groups or businesses try to force on you. They're selling a product, just like telemarketers. It's nothing to be 'offended' about. I know you're trying to be a good little liberal girl, but this is a stretch.
Ali Cat: Unless you eat your mailbox or people that appear at your front door, it won't be "forced down your throat." If this weren't happening to you, you wouldn't be living in a country as great as the US of A. Be pleasant and just get rid of them as adroitly as you can. Resenting them before they even get there is probably some kind of cosmic invitation you're sending out... ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. Has anyone else noticed that Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Jews don't seem to bother anyone with door-to-door visits and mailed pamphlets/videos, etc? Why is it that Christians feel the need to keep themselves in the high annoyance category? I have two Jehovah's Witness ladies that come to visit me every couple of weeks. They are so nice that I don't have the heart to tell them I believe very little of what they are pushing on me. We usually just chat for a moment about their pamphlets and my gardent or about how my jewelry business has been. I don't mind the visits ON OCCASSION, but they've been coming every couple of weeks for over 2 years!!! I don't see my own family that much! I realize I could just tell them to stop, but I am curious just how long it will take them to actually ask if I am interested. They've never once asked if I care. Do I throw away what they bring me? Did I read the last one? Do I attend church? Am I a Christian? Don't you think those would be rather standard questions? Anyway, I could care less if I get a video, but I do find it ironic that those who want to pontificate the most at my door are also the one's least tolerant of other religious groups' pontification. ------------------ AAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

This is some funny sheite to me. I laugh at it in several ways. First. Texas has 20,903,994 people living there, not 8.5 million. I guess cristians are bad at math, thats why they think the world is 3000, or 5000 years old or what ever it is. secondly. do these people think that the millions of dollars spent on this mass mailing is going to more good than disaster releif, or running homeless shelters?? when the Beleivers die and go up to heaven: God says "so my chosen ones, what did you do with all that money I gave you to make the world better?" Beleiver responds "uhhh we bought a Blockbuster Video, and filled it with Jesus tapes" God "you did WHAT!!!" Beleiver "no,no, dont worry, it wasnt 'Jesus Christ Superstar'" God "I guess they just dont make beleivers like they used to, Mother Theresa, now that woman knew how to use cupons" its actually kinda sad. ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
I got the video in the mail a couple of days ago here in Austin. And got rid of it immediately afterwards without even bothering to unwrap the shrinkwrap, because I'm simply not interested in its contents. I don't consider stuff like this to be "forced down my throat" either. Like TheFreak said, this is just an attempt to sell a product...a product which I don't particularly care about. Kind of like junk mail. Nothing forceful about this. Jehovah's Witnesses do annoy me when they knock on my door (although I'm polite, but firm to them in my attempt to get rid of them) but that's all they are in my eyes.....annoying advertisers. No big deal, nothing to get particularly upset over. ------------------
Ok, so I see what ya'll are saying about how this is just another form of advertising, and how I should just ignore it. I was planning on it. I guess what I did not say in my first post is that I think this is wrong because not only is someone trying to get me to change my beliefs (unlike in my experience other religions do, like Jeff said), but they are also getting some free advertising on tv. why in the world is this newsworthy? I guess I just hate junk mail. Oh yeah, as bad at I am at math (and I am pretty bad) those numbers were not mine. I got them off the tv. ------------------ Poopy!
Mine went straight to the garbage with the rest of the junk mail. I just have one question, who doesn't know the story of Jesus? Whether you take it as fact or fiction, most people have heard the story. Waste of money and resources, just glad it's not mine. ------------------ www.swirve.com I think my w**** is dead.
Jeff, Even you should know the answer to the question why Christians do these kind of things. Voice of Reason, Before you go around critizing 'cristians' about their math, maybe you should look at your own spelling. I think its sad that people find it a bigger deal that someone is trying to pass of religion to you then when your mailbox gets spamed full of junk mail. ------------------ Nice guys finish last ... and im surely not going to finish last!
I just experienced cristian backlash. hay, didnt god tell you to turn the other cheek?? ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
Do you really expect them to mail one to every man, woman and child? Don't you think they would plan on sending one to every household? ------------------
I never said I was Christian ... You know what they say about ASS-U-ME. And for the record, I do consider myself Christian. But don't try to call out my hypocrisy, for I am a hypocrite as per the "Christian" standard. I wasn't 'backlashing', I was pointing out its just as funny that Christians can't count (considering they were not directly quoted) and you can't spell. It was Jesus, not God. ------------------ Nice guys finish last ... and im surely not going to finish last!
Isnt jesus just a creation of god?, did not gods word flow through him. Jesus was the physical embodyment of god, correct?, so infact those were gods words. Sorry I was wrong on who supposedly said it, but regardless, it was the word of the lord. I guess I should not assume that you are cristian, when you infact are cristian..... is there any logic in what you said?? dude, chill out a bit. In my origional post I was making a joke out of the whole thing. If you as an ASSumed cristian cannot laugh at your fellow beleivers than who can you laugh at. Is life really that serious that you must make a personal attack at me, and my spelling when I merely point out the humor in the actions of some cristian group. The counting ability again a joke. some Cristians beleive that the world is 5000 yrs old when it is over 5 billion yrs old. so I made a joke about the numbers that Ali posted. You personally attack my spelling but you assume it is my fault, or my pathetic nature that makes me a poor speller, well I say it is your god that makes me a poor speller. didnt god tell you to look kindly on the less fortunate. can your cristian heart truely say that spending the millions of dollars on vidoes does more of the lords work then running soup kitchens, adoption agencies, hospitals etc.?? ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
