He is at the bottom of the Raptors bench and is not playing a lot even though he nearly averaged a double double last year. This guy hustles his butt off on the court and I think he would really help our second unit. Do you guys think that it would be worth our time to pursue this guy?

    2002-2003 stats

i would try gettin him. let's say boki and mooch for him? lol. just playin all you "critics". but yeah, we should try to get him. i like his hustle and heart in the hardcourt! he can give less pressure for mo-t and eg on manning the boards and he might give them some pointers.

What's his contract? Didn't he just get a new contract 2 season's ago?

I like Williams. He is a junk yard dog type of player. Nice role player. I guess in Toronto with their new rookie Chris Bosh, Williams is losing playing time.

Williams doesnt have much of an offensive game but is a nice spark plug rebounder off the bench, much the way Cato seems to be turning into.

I put something similar to this in the thread in NBA, but here it is again.

Jerome is one of those players that looks good until you actually watch him play closely. He gambles a ton on defense trying to get steals. He often leaves his man to anticipate rebounds (which results in defensive breakdowns). And he'll take every opportunity to push himself into the public eye (which wears on teammates and cuts any team first dynamic).

Additionally, his contract is rather large for what he is. Toronto would dump him for an expiring contract.

Unfortuantely, that's my main beef with him as well. He's a nice energy guy, but we already have enough overpriced bench players.

    booo.

He isn't really the kind of guy I'd trade for unless we could manage him for a couple second round picks or something. And even then if his contract is big I'm still not all too interested. I'd definitely sign him on the cheap as a free agent but I just don't have much interest in giving anything up for him.

Except maybe Moochie or John Amaechi but good luck on that.

Finally, we agree on something. ;)

Williams turned 30 in May, makes more than Posey, has a longer contract (4 years + team option 5th), would at best be the 6th or 7th in the rotation and (although I love the hustle) benefits from playing in the EC. Just another good player among many that will come along in the next several years.
