Taylor is an all-around player, can score, pass, and play physical defense. What's Taylor's Potential?
JT is good because he even got a higher 2nd Round pick then Chase Bud and Llull......... he is good if he have more time jus like Chase Budinger
Haven't seen enough yet to determine if he can become an all-star, but he definitly has starting potential.
The problem with JT is that he is pretty much a stellar SG and his best bet to get regular minutes this season would have been either develop his defensive game to stellar levels a la a Battier lite or be the third PG on this team. Technically, he is still rough, but I liked what I have seen of his defense (which was stated to be one of his weak points going into the season) and his offense as well. He could easily be anything at this point and going forward, although in order to develop him, we have to give up one of the other wings to a get him minutes.
I see him working in the off-season on toning down the scorer's mentality just a little bit and improving his ball handling skills. If he does that, I can see him as being a potentially very useful combo guard, backing up both the 1 and the 2. 10-15 minutes per game, perhaps a little more if we trade one of our three (count 'em) small forwards this summer. This may sound strange, but one thing I see in him is the potential to be a situational defender at the point guard position. A lot of things about his game scream "SG", but I think he has the lateral quickness to stay with the bigger point guards and the size and wingspan to really shut them down. I could see Adelman giving him more minutes when AB and Lowry are getting abused by a taller point guard, as tends to happen occasionally. He also fits very well with a fast break type offense, which is what we ideally want coming off the bench as a change of pace next season. He should play very well with a unit along the lines of this: 1: Lowry 2: Taylor 3: Budinger 4: Hill 5: Scola Lots of easy points to keep us in the game while the starters rest up.
i think we should trade buddinger and develop taylor this offseason he can backup martin, taylor plays good defense, can create his own shot and can knock down open shots as well as drive to basket he reminds me of a marcus thorton short but offrnsively skilled buddinger can only shoot setup shots and cannot create his own shot buddinger is a bad passer, is turnover prone and cannot defend to save his life; buddinger will be a jason williams white chocalate nothing more
Budinger is incredibly athletic, knocks down open threes (well, at least until lately...), grabs a good amount of rebounds from the 3, and is fantastic at running the fast break. He's a great roleplayer for an offense centered around Yao
the question is not who is the better role player but rather who has the more potential to be a good player in this league taylor scored 13 points in his first start, if we can get some consistent playing time for taylor he can develop into a good player just like brooks did and landry did! morey sure knows how to pick good potential players almost all his draft choices have had good potential especially landry and brooks i think landry is his best pick yet
Budinger had a double-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists in his first start earlier this season.
Look, I like Taylor and think he has the potential to fill a small role on this team, but it's hilarious how every time a young player comes and plays his first real minutes and does well, he suddenly becomes the flavor of the week and all anybody can talk about is how he's going to be a superstar Knee-jerk flavor of the week threads are almost as bad as knee-jerk player bashing threads. Chill out, take it easy, be realistic... it's just one game.
I think there's less than a 50% chance he becomes a rotational player next season. We've had plenty of players with potential that never made it.
I see '09 Von Wafer potential in Taylor. Beyond that, it would take an AB-like development curve, and what non-blatant-homer would've called that?
JT looked good out there tonight, his stroke was nice from the left side of the court. I think he has the potential to be a really good rotational player. 20-25 minutes. But we will see. These last few games are good chance for him to get some experience under his belt.
i wouldnt say he's an all around player because he can't really shoot. He has his good nights, but his stroke isnt consistent. For a post player that may not be a big issue, but as a perimeter player he either has to have a great ability to drive and finish or he needs to consistently knock down jumpers. Otherwise he won't be a consistent scoring threat.
