Man this guy is awesome, and he is only 24 years old. By the end of the season after the Pacers win the NBA Finals Jermaine O'Neal will be considered the best PF in the game. Better than Webber, better than Duncan, better than Garrnett and better eventhan Eddie Griffin(just kidding). The Pacers ripped of Portland when they got him, can't remember how they got him from Portland though?? What are your thoughts about Jermaine so far?
He is good...but not that good. PF's: 1) Tim Duncan 2) Dirk Nowitzky 3) Kevin Garnett 4) Chris Webber 5) Antoine Walker 6) Rasheed Wallace 7) Elton Brand 8) Jermaine O'neal 9) Shareef Abdur-Rahim 10) Ben Wallace (i will NEVER put Karl Malone)
It would be nice to see Eddie Griffin mentioned within this group some day. Looking at O'neal's stats for this year 18ppg, 11rpg....I just wish Eddie Griffin would eventually get to those numbers. I think Eddie is currently 232 pounds and O'neal is listed around 242. Eddie put on 12 pounds of muscle in the offseason and I think he should continue to put on the pounds to get up into the 240 range. That extra bulk would really help his post defense and rebounding. I know this is a Jermaine O'neal thread, but I can't help but wonder if Eddie Griffin's game will eventually develop into what O'neal currently has. Chris
I hope Griffin will be able to be on that list someday. And he maybe he will but not this year. 1) Tim Duncan 2) Dirk Nowitzky 3) Kevin Garnett 4) Chris Webber 5) Antoine Walker 6) Rasheed Wallace 7) Elton Brand 8) Jermaine O'neal 9) Shareef Abdur-Rahim 10) Ben Wallace (i will NEVER put Karl Malone I like your list but here is my list. 1. Chris Webber 2. Kevin Garrett 3. Tim Duncan 4. Jermaine O'Neal 5. Dirk Nowizki 6. Shareef Abdur-Rahim 7. Antoine Walker 8. Ben Wallace 9. Elton Brand 10. Karl Malone(I would never put Rasheed Wallace on my list)
Walker ahead of Wllace, you've got to be kidding me, and as for the rest of the errors, I'll leave that alone.
Walker surpasses Rahim, Wallace and O'Neal in my opinion. Rahim, who is definitely and all-star, is more one-dimensional, lacking Walker's range (his form might be better, but Walker can just force them up at any point in the game) and ability to face the basket. Any size mismatch can hold him to 15 points. Wallace is just a stat monster - not even the best rebounder in the league, taking into account available rebounds. Does he beat his man to the post? No. Sure, he is good enough to be matched up with opposing guards, but can he play defense - backtracking - when being worked on? Only so-so. Is he as good a finisher off the offensive glass as Rodman was? Definitely not. Replace him with Bo Outlaw and the team's record stays close to what it was. I like O'Neal, but he isn't in Walker's league; a zone defense stops him from shaking free of baseline defenders in favor of jumpshots. With that, he is no longer the dominating post-presence we saw early in last year's playoffs (until the Nets smartened up, after which he had a bad series); he is just another an athletic 4 who can slash, and there are lots of those in the NBA.
Of all the teams in the East, I think Indiana has one of the best shots at beating the Lakers. They have O'neal to score at the 4, Brad Miller who annoys Shaq into making foolish plays at times at the 5, Ron Artest to defend Kobe at the 2 and guys like Harrington and lets not forget a clutch shooter like Reggie Miller.
And a rising star PG in Jamaal Tinsley. Indiana is a deep, deep team, and they are going to be good for a long time.
Well Tim Duncan should be a center but he is listed as a PF. Once Roberson retires he should be the center for the Spurs.
I don't remember but if that is what they traded for O'Neal then dang the Pacers ripped off Portland!
Well maybe if your boy Sheed didn't self-destruct all the time people would give him more credit. I mean what is Rasheed guiding the Trailblazers to right now? With that type of talent they should be an elite team, instead he's getting caught smoking weed.
Wallace is much better than Walker. It is not even a fair comparison. 1. Duncan (for this season atleast) 2. Garnett 3. Webber 4. Nowitzki (just learn how to spell his name) 5. R. Wallace drop off 6. O'Neal 7. Walker (the Allen Iverson of PFs) 8. B. Wallace (if he had any offensive abilities whatsoever he'd be #2) 9. Abdur-Rahim 10. Malone
In 5 years i think the top PFs (who are in the league right now) will be. Amare Stoudemire Tim Duncan Kevin Garnett Dirk Nowitzki Nene Hilario Jermaine O'Neal
Interesting that you posted that slinslin, here is my top 5 PFs in 5 years. 1. Jermaine O'Neal 2. Kevin Garnett 3. Dirk Nowitzki 4. Amare Stoudemire 5. Maybe Kwame Brown????
