I just saw an interview with Richard Jefferson on NBA League Pass before the Rockets game.

They asked him about the trade and Eddie Griffins play.

He said "I am sure the Rockets wish they had the three of us instead of Griffin." and "Eddie is just another Rookie getting big minutes on a bad team."

We need to show them that they are still the NJ Nets not the kings of the east.

LOL, that's the funniest, yet most classless, thing I've ever heard. I think he will have a big game tonight (Jefferson) because the matchups favour him.

You know what I'd like to see?

Rockets offer Eddie Griffin to the Nets for those same 3 players, and when the Nets accept, change their mind, cancel the deal, and send the papers to Mr. Jefferson.

Gotta give him props though, it took malone ages before he became an enemy, but he's done it in his rookie year.

Now that really tics me off!!!! E.G. is a super rookie destined to be an All Star. Who is he!!?? E.G. is good for 20-10-5. How many players in the NBA can consistently get these numbers? Come on E.G. kick is butt!!!!

That is strange, I am watching the game on DirecTV league pass, with the Nets announcers and saw them talk to Jefferson and ask him about the trade. The answer on my TV was nothing like what you "quoted" him as saying. I though he answered without running anyone down and being very considerate of both teams. You just trying to get something started? There is enough truth out there without having to make stuff up.

When Cassell was packaged for Barkley, he looked at it exactly the right way. He said he was honored to be considered good enough to be worth a superstar.

Jefferson says Griffin is just another rook. Well, guess what. That means the Rockets and the Nets agreed that Jefferson was worth 1/3 of just another rook. The fact that the Nets wanted #18 and #23 in addition to Jefferson tells you -- and him -- everything you need to know about Jefferson's value relative to Griffin's.

He can't ever diss us in words as badly as we dissed him in deed. Let it go.

David Wesley, talking about trade rumors, had a reaction similar to (but funnier than) Cassell's.

Asked if he was upset about being mentioned in rumors, Wesley said that if it was for a star -- I think he mentioned Nick Van Exel, but I'm not sure -- then he was flattered. Then he said something along the lines of, "But if it's for Travis Best ... I mean, Travis is my boy and all, but they'd better be getting something else, too."

    :D

I think you are right E.J.
He was interviewed by Bill and Calvin and was very friendly and respectful towards Eddie, the Rockets and the whole situation. I guess I should've known not to trust the same guy who was in the chat talking about how much better Chandler will be than Brand, who is no better than KT...

Calm down guys...WoodlandsBoy is right on this, although I'm not sure where he saw it.

Jefferson made those exact comments on FoxSports NJ in the pre-game show.

My apologies to WoodlandsBoy if this really was said then...

Jefferson must have some kind of schizo thing going on then.. I guess I will have to go back to hating him once again.

This was the thing - Jefferson tried really hard during the first 3/4 of the interview to be classy about it, but then when the interviewer pressed the issue about him being traded 1 for 3, Jefferson just couldn't hold back and threw that little barb at Griffin in there.

What do you expect him to say? Calvin and Bill would get on his ass if he dissed him.

    He's a gutless prick.

He also said the same thing to the Nets announcers.. It's not like they would have jumped all over him if he had said anything bad.

....and I actually liked the Nets a bit. Unfortunately for them, this is the kind of attitude that will show them the door come playoff time. It's obvious that "stuff" just gets to this kid to easily, and when pressure time comes, he's gonna crack.

Oh, and someone should remind him about that NCAA championship loss again :D

I bet he hurt Eddie's feelings by saying that:rolleyes: Eddie will be a superstar in 2-3yrs and Jefferson will be the same average player he was in college. If you ask me I think we should give NJ 3more picks for Eddie. Guy hits a couple of WIDE OPEN jumpers then he wants to talk s***.

Those comments are funny by Jefferson. I bet if you were to ask the Nets front office now would they do that draft day trade again, they would say HELL NO!!!You always keep a potential superstar. Thankyou very much Nets organization.

And the Nets didn't really impress me all that much tonight. If Steve was well and playing tonight, the Rockets would have probably won. The Nets are suppose to be the best team in the East? It really goes to show that the Eastern conference is worlds behind the West.

    Jefferson=slightly more explosive Shandn Andersn.

Griffin is a better outside shooter, already. Jefferson is a product of Kidd, like Shandon was a product of Stockton. We picked up Torres without costing a draft pick, and Jefferson isn't going to be much better than him. Armstrong is a scrub, and Collins may have a decent career, but nothing special. Eddie is something special.
