Saw this interesting article today. Thought I should share this with you guys.

This article was from Zheng Peng of Basketball Pioneer, who is based in Houston. This obviously referred to a media Q&A in Houston prior to the season opener at Utah against Utah Jazz.

So does this further prove that Bonzi Wells is now officially in JVG's doghouse ?

Obviously Bonzi was in JVG's doghouse before. JVG probably thought just like some people in this forum that we can win even without him.
Last game certainly changed JVG's mind. He mentioned he is going to release Bonzi from his doghouse now.

Where did he say that? Van Gundy made no promises about reactivating Bonzi soon, and even went on to say that he probably will not do it for a while. Looks like Bonzi is going to be stuck in the doghouse for a while.

That's always been the problem with JVG. He insists on approaching everyone the same way no matter what.

He needs to get over his damn ego and let Bonzi play. I can't believe that the biggest off-season acquisition is yet to break a sweat in a Rockets' uniform...that's simply ridiculous.

If Bonzi doesn't play in the Mavs game, then he might as well just release him and let him go so he can play with the Heat or the Suns and win a championship.

I am getting sick and tired of his antics...He is absolutely hurting the team by not playing Bonzi. Is it possible that Les can interject on Bonzi's behalf here?

obviously the interview is before the home opener. There's no mention of letting Bonzi out of the doghouse.

you know he wont change. Its like, well nevermind, just tell him to pack his bags. He's not good for this team. Every season he has to sit somebody out. Who else does this crap every year

what about bonzi's groin injury...Could it be that bonz is being macho saying that he can play and JVG is being cautious due to last year's injury plagued season

    We can.

The shooters were just unusually bad. Padgett lost his shot somehow, Alston forgot everything he practiced and executed nicely through summer and the preseason, Novak seemed a little lost on the defensive end and got pulled for Battier who was sucking until the 4th quarter. Snyder's outside shot only bests Bonzi's, and is very streaky. Not much offensive flow going with the new revamped rockets.

Not to mention, the leaders.. one, was prematurely benched due to foul calls, and other times just wasn't all too aggressive. The other one gave a hell of a post-game quote that seemed to imply pregame 'gimmie' expectations from his opponent.

    And, our depth? Unused.

If you allow this team to work out all the kinks, use the strength of finally possessing a deep bench, T-mac stops underestimating the opposition, Yao stops waiting for someone else to pump him up instead of vice versa. We can do more than win, without Bonzi Wells.

You may be right, but there isn't enough info to make that judgment. We don't know how big a jerk (if at all) Bonzi has been in all this. He may have displayed a sorry attitude during the first few days of training camp and could have alienated other team members by now. Who knows: If JVG cuts him slack he could lose the respect of other hard working team members.

IMO, it's too early to form an educated opinion about a JVG/Bonzi relationship. Remember Bonzi was actually tossed from Memphis' playoff roster one time so I wouldn't put anything past the guy. He may feel since he's only getting $2.1MM the Rockets will only "get what they pay for" or something like that. If Bonzi doesn't buy into the program they should de-activate him and let him stew on the inactive list the rest of the season. If JVG is the problem, we can be thankful this will be his last season here. I have no doubt Les will chop him off.

LOL, but we can just assume Bonzi is a jerk with not enough info? LOL man.

Didnt he pull this on Stro last year, yet called him a nice kid?

I mean Come on man. You sit Bonzi and leave old broken down Deke in there and Padgett, but Bonzi can't play?

This is old and tired, and frankly the guy isnt doing all he can to win

JVG needs to fired if he doesn't play Bonzi. This isn't f'n Derek Anderson we are talking about. Bonzi is a very good player that had a dominant playoff series agianst a 63 win Spurs team a year ago. This looks like Derek Anderson part II, but with a much better player.

I'm not assuming anything. We don't know yet who the problem is. My point is Bonzi might be the problem, not JVG, and if he is the Rockets need to exile him. If JVG is the problem, he needs to be fired.

We all know a little of Bonzi Wells problem.

    So does coach or GM.

If player's attitude is an issue for you, you shouldnt sign him anyway.

No player is "perfect" as Battier.

And you are not capable of turning Wells into Battier.

If the Rockets are stupid enough to sign a player without knowing anything about him, then they deserve to lose.

What I do know is that we've seen this before from JVG. I dont understand why they allow him to do this to players and why one can assume its just the player.

Dont tell me Bonzi isnt in shape enough when you can let an old washed up Mutombo play excessive minutes and get burned.

Boozer owns the rockets and he throws padgett in there to stop the bleeding. Give me a break
