Around 5:30 am this morning I luckily turned on the radio and to my suprise Jeff Van Gundy was on 610 sports. He seemed real excited about everything that was going on with the Rockets and was about to head to the airport to meet Juwon Howard. He was talking about Mcgrady of course, and free agent point guards, saying they will have to go for the best fit and best value, and the market will have to play itself out, but he was also talking enthusiasticly about the Astros, and Carlos Beltran's homerun yesterday, which I thought was kinda funny. I Know some grumpy dudes on here like to think of him as nothing but an invading newyorker or bitter yuppie yankee or whatever, but with his excitment for the Rockets, and his love for the Rice sports teams, and his enthusiams for the Astros, it's hard not to see the guy as becoming one of Houston's own. Here is professional coach, who is up at 5:00 am so he can head to the airport to meet Juwon Howard, I don't think many professional coaches would have done that.

Rudy is missed but its seems Jeff Van Gundy is not as bad as some bitter fans make him out to be.

I thought this was important to take note of since he recieves a lot of flak from some of you guys around here.

Okay, but its still hard to suck at the fastbreak and average 97 points in today's NBA.

Van Gundy gave an interview this morning on the sports station and he was asked about the comments. The two guys in their usual school girl manner tried to get Van Gundy to respond negatively, but he said he wouldn't get into a "he said she said" situation.

However he did say that he tried to get the team to get a good balance, balance between offense and defense, and balance between half court and full court offense, and he said that he focuses on half court because that's what he thinks it takes to win in the playoffs.

yeah, I posted this in the thread about Steve's press conference because he was asked about Steve's comments about not practicing the fastbreak.
