With the 177th pick in the NFL Draft, (6th round) the Houston Texans took Jeff Pagan, defensive end out of Alabama. Below is a tweet from Berman: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>DE Jeff Pagan, Texans-6th round(177), says not being healthy <a href="https://twitter.com/Combine">@combine</a> hurt stock:"I wasn't able to show how much of a freakish athlete I am"</p>— Mark Berman (@MarkBermanFox26) <a href="https://twitter.com/MarkBermanFox26/statuses/465226581787422720">May 10, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I liked him a lot at Bama. More of run stopper and not a pass rusher. Kind of a DE/DT hybrid. He came out early for the draft because I think he knew he would have to battle for his playing time (Like Vinnie Sunserii) with more talented freshmen.
He'll be good next to Nix. We just need Nix and Pagan to stop the run and occupy blockers against the pass. Let Merci, Clowney, and Watt do the rest. Very excited about the front 7.
