Hey, everybody. My band, orange is in, is releasing our first CD this Friday at Rudyard's. It is really a six-song demo that turned into an EP. It goes to press tomorrow. The cool thing is that anyone who comes to the show gets a free CD. We are giving them away! We just decided that since it isn't a full-length CD, we'd rather have folks enjoy it and help promote us. We'll start selling it after the show, but it is free on Friday (until we run out - a happy problem ). So, come on out and have some fun and get a free CD. Friday, October 29 - 10pm Rudyar's 2010 Waugh Drive http://www.orangeisin.com/
awesome.. unfourtunately won't be able to come get the free cd since I'm not in Houston... but congrats on the cd release
Death Cab For Cutie is playing at Numbers this Friday at 7:00 and I've got tix! I guess their set should end by 10...
I was just there tonight seen Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. We won't go on until around 11:00 or so.
Jeff, I suppose I can make that . How was Bela? I also saw where Amy, the violinist for orange is in, will be playing saturday at a Celtic festival in Clear Lake with her other band Paisley Close. See their website -> www.paisleyclose.com.
Great. Bela was terrific. Victor Wooten is such an incredible bassist. I will admit that it started to get a little slow after the 15 minute "drumitar" solo during which time he sung an acapella song that was really wierd. He then sat down and played some strange little keyboard with Bela joining in what sounded like a rehersal room jam. But, Wooten was da bomb. I'm playing that show with Amy in Clear Lake. Should be interesting.
Congrats Jeff. Can't make the party (live in SA) but at some point I would like to buy the CD. Be sure to keep us updated where the outlets will be. RR
Rudz is a really good place to see live music. It's not so big that it is difficult to fill, but big enough for people to sit and enjoy the show. The sound guy there is great, which is nice. I just wish I didn't have to lug gear upstairs. That is the WORST part of it. Ugh.
Especially when you're unpacking your gear and the bartender comes in and says "they're towing cars parked along the side of the club by the back staircase!"
Yeah, or when they tell you you can't use the back staircase because the people in the house will call the police AND the front doors are locked meaning you have to bang and bang and bang on the front door to be let back in because they won't let you prop the door open. Really, it's just the loading out part that sucks. The worst staircase in the history of Houston music was Blythe Spirits. I'll never forget helping a friend haul an SVT cabinet down those stairs during an ice storm. The metal stairs were partly frozen and I was the idiot on the bottom trying to keep the refrigerator-sized speaker cabinet from falling. I just KNEW I was going to die.
Damn, I can't make it -- I'm going to be in SA at the Flecktones show, since I couldn't make it in Houston. I'll make sure to pick up a CD though. Congratulations on your accomplishment!
