Master or apprentice? Neither are the right coach for this team but a mchale's lead team went to the wcf and a jb lead team dances and sings about really big rings
Come playoff(if we make it) HOU is gonna be fcked with his inbound plays. Got Ariza inbounding the ball who cant pass worth **** and the only person open is Dwight somehow.
Both are great coaches. They have the highest winning % of all Rocket coaches. It really is hard to pick
Well, I think everyone would vote for that, which is exactly the point. Gauging the amount of people that actually miss McHale. Sacking him was not the right move IMO. Even less right to just lock in JB for the remainder of the season. I think there are a lot of Clutchfans that called for the sacking that now wish we had him back - at least rather than have Bickerstaff flailing in his place like a fish out of water. We need BCA. Best Coach Available. And we need it - STAT. The only consideration is we are tanking the season. Harden's foul on Hood was just the latest key moment that made me actually consider that may be the mood we are in.
Be careful of what you wish for! People were wishing for McHale to be sacked. They got their wish, but never expected his understudy in JB to be promoted. For those hoping for McHale to go (including myself) the hope was that he would be replaced by someone far more capable. So I'd have to go with McHale over JB and to replace McHale with someone more capable.
I wanted McHale sacked, still do, but I figured the entire staff would be out, or at least a qualified coach would be brought in. You don't bring in a guy who was responsible for the defense, as the defense is crappy this year and expect him to make a difference. What is he like 13-12? DD
Who do we want then? Who should we target for next season? Dreaming nostalgically of JVG, but pipe dream probably.
I don't like firing coaches mid season but I wanted McHale gone asap. He did an excellent job but last season was his absolute ceiling and he overclapped his players. JB is slightly better I guess and he'll definitely be better after he's done with his rookie year but I'm not seeing signs from him that he's a championship coach. Maybe he doesn't have the job security to make big decisions, but I look at it the other way: the only way he'll get job security is if he takes the big risks necessary to get out of this mess. He's not going to keep his job by making minor changes to McHale's strategy. We have nothing to lose by giving him a shot. Getting an outside coach would have been too tedious a learning curve for this low IQ group of players to be ready by the playoffs. We can get a new coach in the offseason and give him a full training camp to do his thing. For now let's see if JB can learn from his mistakes fast enough to make us a dark horse in the playoffs, that's the best we can ask for. If we make it to the second round and compete strongly in the second round, I'd consider renewing him if the players are on board.
At least Mchale had the balls to bench people when they deserved it. Even if it's game 6 of a playoff series. You mope around the court acting like a female, Mchale would bench your ass.
I know right. JB made the big public 'dissing the game' comments. Then didn't follow up by benching people. Unless Thornton was the person he was going after..
Are you dumb? Mchale didn't bench Harden. Harden played his usual minutes and sat out the start of the 4th as usual. The rockets happened to go on a big run with him out and Mchale just decided to stay with that lineup.
Sort of lame to insult people for their opinion. To me he wanted to come back during the run and Mchale left him on the bench until it was time to shoot free throws. Therefore yes, he was benched Einstein.
