The NBA is and has always been a players league (or least since the 1980s).

If your best player can't get along with the coach, you fire the coach. If your best player wants more money, you give him more money since elite players are hard to find.

Zion is in the same boat as Luka. When healthy, he is an elite player who deserves a max contract. Like Luka, Zion is fat and does not play much defense. Unlike Luka, Zion is often injured.

Perhaps, the Mavs did not want to give Luka a new max contract and gamble that his weight would not be an issue for it guaranteed entirety?

How many max contract player are chronically injured?
    Zion
    Joel Embiid
    Kawhi Leonard
    Paul George
    future Chet Holmgren

Yeah if Luka is Embiid or Chet then Zion is Christian Wood.

Zion is athletic but he isn't by far as skilled as Doncic.

it's like BSPN requires an IQ test before they hire their TV personalities. and you have to score below 70 to have a chance

Luka is a better player than Zion.

    Both are max contract players.

Doesn't matter why they don't want Luka. The stupid thing is how little they get in return.

Season after Luka gets them to the finals despite not having a top record. Harrison decides Luka's not good enough to lead them to a championship. Then dumps his best asset for 50 cents on the dollar.

it's really how shady they went about it this the first time

not having the courtesy to bring up their concern and give a heads up to their generational superstar

and because of secrecy they only contacted one team

so lakers took them to the cleaners and the city and fans now hate them

players, agents, other teams, and superstars will now think twice and be extra careful when dealing with them

Wrong, if anything it solidifies the type of power a multi-generational HOF player like Lebron holds over the league. That guy can literally bend any GM over single-handedly. ALL diddy...

Matt Ishbia and Nico Harrison could be partners in Crime, love players that are beyond 33.....and stab important players in the back.

Intrigued about what they are cooking up again.
