LOL, this is a player most ppl said should pick over Ming. I've read articles that said ppl will look back at this draft and said the Rox passed over williams for Ming just like the blazers pass over Bowie for Jordan. I know its just pre-season but Ming played sooo much better at the WC with an inferior surrending cast and a much superior surrounding teams. I can so see Yao being ROY especially with the fans voting, 1.5 bilion votes baby.

Griffin shot 4 for 10 in our first game, which really isn't much better, especially for a big man. Guess he sucks too, huh?

For some reason, I don't think Blazer fans remember it happening quite like this!

    JayZ, sorry, typo, my mistake.

Apollo, the diffrence is that a, Griffin is way more of a project then JWill, who is actually a year older than Griffin is and who supposidly has a more polished game coming out of Duke and one of the more NBA ready players (one of the knocks on Ming was that he wasn't NBA ready). The post is about the fact that a lot of ppl thought Jay Will is the most NBA ready, most established, and everything short of the messiah to the Bulls while saying Yao Ming stinked. While Jay Will can still turn out to be great, my point was that the Rockets didn't make a mistake in taking Ming.

And Mike Bibby was 3-11 last night. Oh My God what will the Kings do for a point guard this year?

4-14 is pretty damn good anymore. What is Iverson some games... like 6-23!

Iverson was 10-22 with a broken finger.

As for the rooks, imagine the media if that was Ming's line in his first game? They'd jump on it. They'd immediately declare him a bust.

this will be the draft where Houston got lucky again to win it, then they picked a foreign Center again, and the media is wrong AGAIN.

come on people, you all understand what wizkid83 meant.
not that he is a failure.
maybe, Bibby is overrated.he is a good solid point guard. but not a team leader, or a star. he played 1 good serie, but he is the third option on that team.

    You too, huh?

    Hammer meets nail.

Bold prediction: The Cavs, despite their attempts to gut their team, will be the surprise team in the NBA. Wagner is ROY, with a 21 PPG avg., Miles wins the Most Improved Player award, averaging 18 PPG & 8 RPG.

i'm not a huge miles fan, but he might be able to average that simply because juanny wagner is THAT good. i've followed juanny since his 100+ pt game in hs and saw all the college games i could of his.

Jay Williams: 14 shots, 1 assist? Hassell had 7 assists...its not like the guys weren't making their shots. From what I could see of the game, williams doesn't have the scoring skills that he had in college b/c the game is so much quicker...he doesn't have his advantage like he did before. To me he's like a Francis without as much athleticism or as good a jumper. He made MANY mistakes for someone who was 'the most NBA ready'. Hell, the Bulls made their big runs without him in the lineup.

i think wagner will have a slow start but when he gets used to the players and the nba style.. he will be a threat..but for miles.. hes going to take awhile. i think wagner is still going to be learning the game faster than miles will..

All these LOW shooting percentages only mean Yao is gonna be great, no doubt about it. Even in his off games in the WBC, he still shot a much higher percentage than all these guys.

I think if the Cavs are as bad as they're suppose to be and land the #1 pick, Wagner time in cleveland will be on life support.James and Wagner can't and wont co-exist in the same backcourt. Wagner will flame down like the stromile swifts of the draft. player without position, not as good as advertised.

I think when it's all said and done, Williams will have had a fine career worthy of being a #2. I don't think he's as good as most people say though. If anything, he is a good character person. How often to talented guys like that leave school early WITH a diploma?

You cant really say anything about how a player, whether it be Ming or J-Will, will develop and contribute based on his very first game in the NBA.:D

This draft was D E E P. I don't see Jay, Juannie, Yao, or Drew bombing. If you want to look at some flame outs try Mike Dunleavy and Caron Butler. Also Nene Hilario will probably be the one most regret passing on....

Jerry West has alluded that the top 5 from this draft were Gooden, Ming, Wagner, Jay Williams, and Hilario. This is why we did not trade our pick, he knew he would get one of the 5 studs. I really thought

Am I the only one that noticed that this belongs in NBA Dish? Jay Williams is already overrated in his career.
