Read this article on Sohu. Thought this is interesting. My translation isn't as good as some of the others here. I just try to translate everything word to word without any "decoration".
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although they lost the game in Houston, Kid¡¯s nearly triple double still shows how great he is. Reporter DingDing interviewed him after the game.

At that time, it was cold and cheerless in the Net¡¯s room, Kid sit quietly, using ice-packs to pet his right knee, even his son wasn¡¯t around. I went to him and said ¡°Hi, Jason¡±

Kid raised his head, said surprisingly ¡°I thought every Chinese reporter is surrounding Yao Ming, that big fellow¡_.¡±

¡°Then, how do you feel about the big fellow?¡±
¡°In 2003¡¯s all star game, I said it, he is good, can shoot, can rebound, play smart ball.¡± He talked a lot , maybe due to Net¡¯s crappy performance ¡°November, Rockets went to NJ, Yao had a fast break, facing Mourning¡¯s block, he slammed the ball. A 7-footer than can play fast break is unusual, and he is so fearless about getting injured, shows that he is a man.¡±

¡°Then do you want to play with this kind of big fellow?¡±
Kid hesitated, but at the end, he said ¡°Every good point guard wants to pass to a good big fellow, because they can put the ball into the basket easily. This is different than passing the ball to forwards and guards who shoot from mid-range. Yao is not the best in the league right now, but he will become the best center in the league in 5 years.¡±

¡°Is Championship very important to you?¡±
¡°Everyone thinks so, especially I had the chance to reach final twice, but you still feel like you are so far away from it¡± Kid sigh ¡°In my life, I probably won¡¯t have luck to play with Shaq.¡±

    ¡°Ever think about other names?¡±
¡°Don¡¯t you just want me to say Yao Ming? I can tell you frankly, everybody in this league wants to play with him¡± Kid said.
Kid looked a bit more serious when he saw my smile ¡°I am not lying. He is so outstanding, with a heart that never gives up. He is a player who cares about a win more than his own stats---that is a crucial for competing the Championship.¡± Kid saw that every one had left ¡° Sorry, I got to go¡±

I (Dingding) suddently felt that maybe , at the end, he will be the guard who pass to Yao.

Houston trades: SF Clarence Weatherspoon (2.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 0.2 apg in 8.3 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (7.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 23.8 minutes)
    First-round draft pick in 2005 and 2007, second-round pick in 2006
Houston receives: PG Jason Kidd (10.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 6.4 apg in 31.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +0.8 ppg, +0.6 rpg, and +4.8 apg.

New Jersey trades: PG Jason Kidd (10.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 6.4 apg in 31.4 minutes)
New Jersey receives: SF Clarence Weatherspoon (2.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 0.2 apg in 8.3 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (7.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 23.8 minutes)
    First-round draft pick in 2005 and 2007, second-round pick in 2006
Change in team outlook: -0.8 ppg, -0.6 rpg, and -4.8 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and New Jersey being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New Jersey had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    ------------

New Jersey saves a ton of money and gets tools to rebuild.
    We get Kidd.

    ;)

Jason Kidd is way too old to give three draft picks for.

YET another totally biased Yao supporter. When will you realize that Yao isnt all that and a bag of chips?

Someone better tell Jason Kidd he needs to say that louder because not enough Chinese folks have voted for him in the all-star game.

Two first rounders for a guy on the wrong side of 30?

Will they be high first-rounders? How did our last first-round draft picks 14 and below pan out?

Lol. I dont know how you get the energy for this.
Its true that there is a degree to which he may have been being nice.

Is Jason Kidd nicer than Charvo?

[not hard to answer that one I suspect].

Pretty interesting you always hear people say they won't to play with Yao and not Amare! ;)

Seriously though, for all the people ripping on Yao, he is STILL putting up strong numbers despite the fact he is STILL being double and triple teamed. He's still getting better and everybody in the league knows it.

I don't know and neither do you.

The point is we can't keep giving away fresh talent, especially for an injury plagued guy that is on the downside of his career and has a huge salary.

BTW, I'd consider a pick that starts or makes the 8 man rotation in the NBA one that pans out. So to answer your question:

2002 - Bostjan Nachbar - New Orleans apparently thinks he was worth something. Probably won't contribute, but is in the 8 man rotation.
2001 - Richard Jefferson - Playing a key role in New Jersey's lineup
Jason Collins - Starting in New Jersey.
2000 - Jason Collier - Starting center for the Hawks.
1999 -- Kenny Thomas - Putting up nice numbers in Philly.

While most of these guys aren't the perfect fit for this team, you have to understand that most draft picks aren't guaranteed to be big contributors. You just don't know where they'll come from. There are players taken all over the board that went too high or not high enough. Again, the point is we can't keep wagering the future on a quick fix like Kidd who has a history of injury and discord.

I would pull that trigger in a New York Minute!!! With Kidd on this team we would be on our way to the finals. Just look what he did to New Jersey. They were sucking league trail dust one season, sign Kidd in the offseason and the next year are in the finals playing the Lakers.

Umm.... RocketsPimp, your analysis seems to be quite self-serving with regard to your argument. I don't see Eddie Griffin, Bryce Drew, or Mirsad Turkcan on that list anywhere. You also conveniently excluded that we didn't actually draft Jefferson and Collins for ourselves, but rather on behalf of the Nets. Nachbar and Collier are terrible, face it. They play for two of the worst teams in the league -- heck Nachbar barely even sees the court for the worst team. Collier is worthless.

The Rockets draft picks have been total nightmares over the last 5 years. The only good pick is Yao, which we lucked into by winning the lottery.

    Nice try.

no jason kidd! no injury-prone wife-beaters!

i wouldnt even want to trade mo tay and spoon for him.

he is old, hobbled and way overpaid (five more years counting this one and he will make $21 MILLION in the 08-09 season.

    http://www.**************/salaries/new_jersey.htm

in the meantime, it weakens our frontline, makes us even older and pretty much prevents us from getting younger thru the draft (giving away picks) or free agents.

with t-mac and yao we just couldnt afford to have kidd and i would never want him on our team anyway.

Who is the totally biased supporter? Jason Kidd, the reporter or the thread starter? Most likely you are referring to the thread starter. But as far as I can see he has just tranlated a newspaper article from another language.

Dont get too excited here. In that report, J.Kidd simply said everybody in this league wants to play with a skilled big fellow. He didnt say that "I want to play with Yao" as the thread title suggests.
